    Toploader/Shipping question -noob questions

Hey all. Getting back into the hobby. For standard card sizes such as ygs what size of toploaders do you use? I use best practices for removing and placing cards into toploaders. However, the standard size toploadeds still scare the crap outta me!

Have you guys ever used 55 pt toploaders for standard size cards or do you find they move around too much? I don't believe I have any on hand to test it out.

    Thoughts? Alternatives?

In a penny sleeve, a slightly larger top loader seems fine for me. That said, for a regular thickness card, regular top loaders are the way to go. For extra protection, throw the top loader, card, and penny sleeve in a team bag.

If you are shipping something very important, tape a “decoy” card to the front and the back of the top loader. Multiple cards can be slipped into a single top loader if it is one of the really wide ones.

    I hope this info helps

    ^^^ Everything here!

One thing I have found is that if you do the penny sleve, Top Loader, and team bag with a thick decoy to add rigidity is that you never have to tape a top loader shut to keep the card from sliding out. One the team bag works as a barrier to keep the card from slipping out anyway, and two if you make sure you close the bag tightly enough around the top loader then the bag actually pinches the top loader at the top like the tape would do.

I keep all my decoys for front/back protection on high-end cards. Always the best feedback for that. Otherwise, standard thickness cards like young guns go into the small top loaders no problem for me. 4000+ feedback on the bay can't be wrong.

Penny Sleeve, and then a standard sized toploader for me. I'll use painter's tape on the top loader after that, and then put it inside a team bag with a decoy, or base cards, or something - for a little extra padding.

The 55 point top loaders would still be okay for a card like this, but I would definitely use the painter's tape with it. 55 point is thick enough that they could slide around.

Other thing you can do in those cases, stick another base card in the top loader. That will tighten it up, and you won't get any movement.
