Question Who would you take with the #1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft?

Would you take Lebron James or Carmelo Anthony?

James might be better in the future but Carmelo Anthony looked very good the other day.

If I was the team picking though I would have to go with James.

Look at all the teams that got burned by not picking high school players like Garnett, Kobe, Tmac etc.

If they picked Carmelo Anthony instead and James became a star it would be like when MJ was drafted #3 overall all over again.

I would go with Lebron. Mad Skillz. :) I wonder about #2 between Carmelo and Darko.

I think the best thing about Carmelo's year is the fact that going to college can actually get you more $$. Since I am sure he will get a nicer contract vs. what he would have gotten last year out of HS.

For every high schooler (Kobe, Garnett, etc), there are a number of high schoolers who flamed out.

    What are their names?

    I don't know.

We in America don't emphasize "losers"; we put the spotlight on winners (Kobe, etc)...the rest of the high schoolers who became nothing simply just fade away.

If I had the #1 pick in upcoming NBA draft, I'd put it up for sale, and see what types of offers I could get.

I'd take the #2 pick and several #1 picks down the line as well as cash from the team with that draft position

I always point out to what the Dallas Cowboys did. They weren't going anywhere with Herschel Walker, and while he was still in his prime, traded him to Minnesota for 7 players and the kitchen sink.

Cowboys used those draft picks to go on to win 3 titles in early 1990s.

I'd take an offer for Nowitzki and Finley and a couple of draft picks over Lebron if Dallas offered.

I'd take Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson and several draft picks if Nets offered.

Lebron on the Cavs just means they increase their attendance at NBA games.

Even Shaq and Penny Hardaway couldn't win the NBA title.

One player can't win it all; and Lebron won't help Cavs even get to 0.500 level next year

Yeah it looks like college has just turned into a place for kids to go that aren't as well known as James.

Once they hit it big then off to the NBA.

Nothing wrong with that I'd probably do the same thing. They make a lot of money.

Yeah but didn't Dallas also have Aikman and Smith before they got those draft picks. Its not like they got superstars with the picks.

And your right the Cavs want James so that they can sell tickets and make money. But that's the point of sports teams. To make money.

Well the Toronto Raptors are gunna get one of the players so it doesnt really matter to us CDNS. But I think that Carmello Anthony should go first overall. He has the experience playing against older players than him. James is a high School Senior. If he's so good why is he just a big name now. Last year I never heard of the guy. He is just playing on a good team that plays in a weak division. Thats what I think anyways

I heard about lebron last year, but if you want to hear the story about college ball ready mike dunleavy article that he wrote on nba.com he says playing in college can auctually ruin you for the nba.

and to shut this up lebron will be the #1 pick and camello will be a top 3 pick because of his play in the tourney, if I had my choice where would I rather learn in the nba or college, right in the nba where I can play against the best competition in the world and you can only get better than playing in college and the only people you will be playing against will be other hs'ers that went to the next level. Just like MLB most stars really go from AA to the show and AAA is just a quick stop, the only ones that get stuck at AAA is the one's that don't have a position ready say you are playing behind jeter or arod or something like that.

OK, no doubt I'd pick Nick Collison. He's amazing, or Rick Rickert (Minnesota) or Carmelo. Lebron is a flameout and won't be able to compete against the likes of Shaq.

You have to be kidding. I don't think Collison will make the top 10. And Rickert will be 20+.

LOL, I am kidding. Rickert will likely go to the Blazers #23-27. Collison will be drafted 11-15. I hate LeBron James, Darko, but I hope Carmelo goes first. I doubt it.
