Pretty massive trade. Alex Tuch & Peyton Krebs both look to be really players.... and then a couple of picks too. (Though I think Buffalo would have been better off with the rumored Calgary deal).

It's a bold move by Vegas. Trading away that much for a broken Jack Eichel certainly falls under "risk / reward"

I was about to post about this trade.

I do not like the trade so far! Seems like a lot to give up for someone who is unproven. Unproven because of playing on Buffalo (who I think are exciting to watch right now!) and because of his injuries. He will have a while to go before he can really prove himself. Vegas is ready for an off-season and gearing up for next?

I wonder what the differences are in the methods of surgery that were offered and requested. I understand that if a disc replacement has not been performed on an NHL player that the league or the owners, really, are that collectively reluctant to get it done.

As I said, I think it is a ton to give away for Eichel. Looks like a good trade for both Eichel and Buffalo. Hopefully Eichel does well with the surgery and gets back into playing for a couple months, off season and then ready to go (or get started as it feels) for the next season.

Let's see what happens! Best of luck to Eichel and hopefully this makes Buffalo that much more exciting to watch this season!

Calgary was interested but they certainly weren't going to match the Vegas offer. An all in gamble on their part and in the long run I think Buffalo easily won this deal.

Eichel is unproven? By what metric. He's scored almost a point-per-game for one of the worst teams in the league - since 2015. He's scored nearly 25 goals per season except for last year. And he's 1 year removed from 78 pts (34 goals) in 68 games. I think, when healthy, Eichel is clearly an elite NHL talent. The question mark is obviously how he comes back from this surgery.

According the rumor Kevin Weekes posted to Twitter, Calgary was offering Matthew Tkachuk, a couple of prospects, and a couple of picks. I think what Vegas gave was less than that and it leads me to believe the tweet was a little misinformation because Buffalo would have been silly not to take it over what Vegas gave.

Very big trade news - you don't see guys of his calibre getting moved that often, but the circumstances being what they were...

I think Buffalo did well to hold to their "wish list" in the deal. They get a good prospect in Krebs, Alex Tuch has really blossomed in Vegas, and two picks will help them with the future. They may both be late-round picks where landing a sure-fire NHL'er is anything but assured, but something to add to the cabinet.

Once Eichel has returned from the surgery and he's 100%, he becomes a lethal weapon on an already potent Vegas offence.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Im glad Calgary didnt make that Trade. I would take Tkachuk over Eichel any day of the week. He's simply the all around better player & who knows what your getting with Eichel, he's always hurt. I've watched Eichel Play quite a bit, seen him have a fit because a team mate didnt pass him the Puck when he wanted. I dont think he's a team player at all. Good for Buffalo getting 2 good players & a couple picks for a guy who's always injured. Maybe for the 1st time in a long time Buffalo wont Suck!!

I am surprised so many people think Vegas gave up “a lot” considering they are getting a top flight 1st line player in his prime. They didn’t give that up, and frankly will be looking at a stacked lineup come playoff time now.

the pick and Krebs will have to really have to show out for Buffalo to recoup close to what they just have away.

Pierre Lebrun stated this evening that Matthew Tkachuk was never part of any Calgary trader offer.

Vegas is loading up and when everyone comes back healthy for their team they will be scary. They were a cup contender without a front line center and now they have one. As far was what they gave up Tuch is a fringe top 6 player with a couple of good seasons to his credit and the others are just prospects and potential. I do not think Vegas gave up all that much and since Buffalo was backed into a corner, they did pretty well. That and I now have no respect at all for Kevin Weekes. That rumor he posted on twitter on what Calgary was willing to give up makes no sense on their part. I think being in the USA too long made him.. Well American lol.
