Why does Bo Jackson have two 'The Rookies" cards?
Not sure if this is posted in the right spot on the forum, but I've been wondering for a while now why Bo Jackson has a 1986 Donruss "The Rookies" card and then also a 1987 Donruss 'the Rookies" card. I love both cards but can't seem to find a reason behind it. Have any other players had multiple "The Rookies" cards issued?
Does anyone know?
Thanks!
Bryan

Because he is BO JACKSON and he can. I have no idea why, but hopefully someone is more helpful than me.

@PhillyBob - True, but by that logic they could've done the same with several other players in that set. Bonds, Clark, Joyner, Bonilla, etc.

The simple answer is that Bo was technically still qualifying for rookie status in 1988, so Donruss, then owned by Leaf, made the decision to include him in their 1988 The Rookies set, in addition to 1987's set.

There are several guys throughout the decades that have appeared on various rookie themed stamps for multiple years. But in the case of Bo Jackson it is technically correct since he didn't have enough at bats for him to qualify for non-rookie status in 1986 so that carried over to 1987. I don't know if that was the reason Donruss had in mind but it works if they did.
