Upper Deck Extended Break Night & Group Break Hits!

Extended of course came out on Wednesday and it was a fun night at Players Choice as we got into two group breaks.

I'll copy/paste in what I said elsewhere about the product...

There's a lot of really cool cards in the product. We did not hit a Debut Game Jersey, nor did we really expect this to happen. They're 1 in 108 boxes and we opened 24, and other dudes cracked maybe another case worth.

The Acetate Young Guns seem to fall one per case. We hit one in both cases, and another dude hit one in a random box break. As ever, beautiful cards.
Photo Variants seem to be more plentiful than in Series 1/2. I think we hit 2 in the first case...the "Playoffs" Variant player & photo selections I saw were befuddling. Jake Oettinger was one of the cards hit, and if there wasn't barely the sight of an Oilers player behind him, you would never guess that this was anything special.
We did hit Misa (Case 1) and Schaefer (Case 2) Canvas YG's, which was super cool.
The 4 Nations base cards were pretty popular with people looking to take team sets. Odd they didn't have MacKinnon but they did have Konecny (whose photo was a studio headshot) on the checklist.
Jacob Fowler YG's shouldn't be $100, but here we are. LOL

Is it worth the $200+ that restock is going to be? I dunno. But it's a pretty fun rip.

Here's what I got out of the case break - I had the Blackhawks, which means there's a lot of cards because wow they're prominently featured!

A pretty substantial haul, for sure.

I also got into a couple group breaks - chopped a box of SPx and OPC Platinum. I like that they've made SPx less of a "hits-only" release again, and Platinum....Platinum should not cost what it costs for what you get out of the average box.

In the SPx break I actually had the ace of the draw. Against my personal feelings, I grabbed the Kucherov 34.5 Lbs - they're great looking cards but this wasn't as scarce as I thought it was. And I hate Kucherov. But what turned out to be very funny is that we do these snake style, so with the very last pick I got a Noah Ostlund Rookie Holograms...which is actually a case hit and worth a fair amount more than the Kucherov. But the other guys all passed on it twice, so there ya go.

Platinum I was the 3rd spot out of 6. This box was very average. There was an Orange Checkers /25, I don't remember who it was. The autograph was someone I don't remember who it was, and it went 2nd in the draft which is rarely a good sign. After a fair amount of hemming & hawing I grabbed a Mika Zibanejad Cosmic /65, Matvei Gridin Sunset rookie parallel, and Sweet Selections of Zayne Parekh and Noah Ostlund (him again!) - the RC were nobody special, including two Flames that I just gave to a Calgary fan.

A couple gang scans. All but the Demidov available.

Fun night - I'm all about the vibes and chilling with other collectors and seeing some cool cards. I'm not going to be a guy that's dropping $400+ at these things but it sure is fun to watch others do it.
