$200 For A Box Of Upper Deck Extended?

Cannot boycott the prices because of all the group breakers out there. The products sell regardless of if people like us, the common consumer stop buying until the prices normalize again.

Sunday at the Toronto Fall Expo last year boxes could be bought at $155 which is the only way for poeple like me to buy. No taxes and no shipping. Actually saw a ton of deals that Expo on some boxes but I didn't have the money.

I will not be breaking any Extended if that's the case.

So last night was Break Night at Players Choice here in Kelowna. Having helped sort two cases' worth of cards based on the team break here's my thoughts...

There's a lot of really cool cards in the product. We did not hit a Debut Game Jersey, nor did we really expect this to happen. They're 1 in 108 boxes and we opened 24, and other dudes cracked maybe another case worth.

The Acetate Young Guns seem to fall one per case. We hit one in both cases, and another dude hit one in a random box break. As ever, beautiful cards.
Photo Variants seem to be more plentiful than in Series 1/2. I think we hit 2 in the first case...the "Playoffs" Variant player & photo selections I saw were befuddling. Jake Oettinger was one of the cards hit, and if there wasn't barely the sight of an Oilers player behind him, you would never guess that this was anything special.
We did hit Misa (Case 1) and Schaefer (Case 2) Canvas YG's, which was super cool.
The 4 Nations base cards were pretty popular with people looking to take team sets. Odd they didn't have MacKinnon but they did have Konecny (whose photo was a studio headshot) on the checklist.
Fowler YG's shouldn't be $100, but here we are. LOL

Is it worth the $200+ that restock is going to be? I dunno. But it's a pretty fun rip.

This is the hobby boxes that blew my mind. I used to love buying black diamond… now, it’s an expensive lottery.

Black Diamond was one of my top 3 favourites every year until the McDavid year when they decided to overhaul it and turn it into a premium product price point that delivers sub-premium cards. The tiered rookies were awesome and it was a fun quest to actually build the set.

Almost any product made today is considered a premium product and when you look at the prices per box it seems that way LOL.

I miss the old days of thin foil Black Diamond. I still pick quad diamonds of Patrick Roy and other stars that I like when I get the chance. I also picked a Corey Perry Rookie Gems that I enjoy, quite a bit of nostalgia there!

I still like old Black Diamond Rookie Gems Ruby Parallels /100. They look beautiful. The newer Emerald /10 are even more pretty. I have not purchased a single Black Diamond box since the change to a Premium Product.

My LCS has Extended for $280 CAD. He says that's what people are paying in USA, but in USD. As if I care what Americans are paying. I am not paying that. And how could these jersey cards be a selling point? If they are like 1 in 4 or 5 cases? Nonsense.
