What I mean by "retail" is the price I can go buy the card at right now. "Books" do not buy cards and I do not believe they are truly reflective of the retail market or what value an individual may actually place on a card. A card is only worth what someone is willing to pay, not an arbitrary number assigned by a "book." Of course, I realize that books take into account recent sales etc. But I believe they are no truly reflective of what the ordinary person would pay. And I know a lot of people look at the "book" as the "bible"... I do not. I look at reality. If I want to buy this card right now, what will it cost me? Book value may not equal what I am willing to pay. Market economics are complicated. But in the end, it is what is a reasonable person willing to spend.
So, I NEVER USE book value. All the book values you listed for the cards I selected are 2x to 3x HIGHER than what I can pay on eBay right now. Sometimes, including shipping.
I can literally go and buy any card I want at almost any price. Well, maybe not the original Honus Wagner. But I would prefer to have to comradeship and community of trading here on SCF.
If that is how you've operated since 2009 and it works for you...I accept that. But it does not work for me. And I have been around the world a couple times since 2009. Maybe it's time for a new paradigm.
Thanks for looking and trying to work out a creative deal. I appreciate your time. Maybe next time.Last edited by RBrauerei; 06-19-2026 at 02:11 PM.

I pulled some Ripkens, Mussina, Murray, Palmer and was typing them up last night and my laptop battery died. Then had plans to go to dinner with wife. Now I have yardwork, then kitchen tile to look at. Hopefully, can type it up this evening.
To save both of us time, I just found almost all of these on eBay for less than $1.50 each. If you disagree, LMK, and we can move on... thanks.Last edited by RBrauerei; 06-20-2026 at 09:52 AM.

@PhillyBob that's the spirit! You are the man! I finished my tasks early today; so, will pull the Dodgers now. Hopefully, I have a lot 2020.
After pulling cards, I discover I have a gap of years 2020,2021, and 2022. But I've pulled a good assortment of stars, RCs and some other interesting (I think) cards from 2018-19, 2023-26, and a few from the 90s.
Shall I post the trade?Last edited by RBrauerei; 06-20-2026 at 03:17 PM.
