    McNabb's interview with Bryant Gumble

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3025308

McNabb said black quarterbacks face more criticism than white quarterbacks. I dont agree with that statement. McNabb may face alot of criticism, but thats because each year he's supposed to be one of the best quarterbacks in the leauge, and his team is supposed to be contenders. The past few years that hasnt happened, mainly beacuse of injury. And Michael Vick was always talked about mainly because of his style of play, and now because of all the trouble he's in.

McNabb also goes on to say that Carson Palmer and Peyton Manning dont get criticized as much. Which is completely untrue about Manning. Before he won the Super Bowl people were even questioning if he was HOF worthy. Of course after the Super Bowl win its all slowed down, but before that I believe that Manning was the most criticized in the league. His brother Eli got it pretty bad this offseason. I ever heard people calling him "She-li". haha. People were wanting Brett Favre to retire, one of the greatest quarterbacks and competitors ever.

I dont think it has to do with the fact they are black, or if they are white. I think it all comes down to peformance and meeting expectations. When you think about it, the quarterbacks you hear or heard the most about were the ones who didnt meet expectations. Vick, he never lived up to the tremendous hype. McNabb, he and his team have struggled the past few years, and this year. P. Manning, couldn't get over that hump and win a super bowl until last year. And now, Drew Brees is definately not living up to expectations. But you dont hear anything about Joey Harrington, and thats because he's doing just waht everyone thought he would.

Thats just my two cents. Any further thoughts?

although i completely disagree with mcnabb, i think race is still an issue in sports. the fact that leagues have to have consider minority aplicants for coaching jobs proves this. in an ideal world, such implications wouldn't have to be put in place.

actually, if ya go to 4 straight championships, ya gotta win 1....and those 4 are getting farther and farther in the past.....all that matters are SB wins....just how it is man, especially in philly - a 4 sport town who has done nothing but choke chances away!! even smarty jones lost!!!

its really about his lack of ability to stay healthy, and the fact he is 5-11 over his last "season" of starts.

but all this has absolutely nothing to do with race.
