No one likes AIM?
I know, I know. This thread appears to have nothing to do with the category I posted it in, but trust me, it does.
My point is, I don't see hardly anyone with an AIM s/n listed on here. I don't know whether it's because no one uses it or because no one wants to be IMed from a board member. Personally I think it would be a LOT LOT LOT easier to work out a trade by IM rather than going back and fortha nd back and forth with PMs. Well, I guess if someone really wanted to iron out a hard trade they could PM the other person asking for thei AIM s/n...
guess I just answered my own question, huh?
Thoughts???

I dont think that its the lack of people liking aim, its just the lack of people willingly allowing people to see there aim name. For example, I used to have my name listed so people could see. But I would get random people on aim messaging me using vulgarity or just screwing around, so I took it off.

Online Bots can search for that stuff and then just send spam. I took my AIM off of other sites after I got so many PMs for the newest XXX site every 5mins. I'm not even sure if I still have AIM to be honest w/ you, lol.

AOL turned me off to AIM many years ago. AIM was very intrusive and caused problems with Yahoo IM and MSN. It was impossible to have both. This was a big problem many years ago so I unistalled AIM and will never use it again. First impressions are everything and they made a bad impression with their first AIM.

There is a killer program for that one Mike, its called trillion. Allows you to have AIM/MSN/Yahoo/ICQ all in one program. I have AIM and msn along with Yahoo. I think the only one listed is Yahoo because that way I know where the strangers might be chatting with me from. If I post my AIM name I expect messages to come from people I have spoken with previously.
It is also encouraged that if you do work a trade on instant messenger, you still post it on SCF. IM chat logs are NOT valid trade agreements, the staff will NOT handle disputes from IM trade agreements.
Thanks

Yeah, I bet just about every person on scf has aim, just don't have there sn in profile..that's how 80% of trades are mostly done.

obviously you arent gonna finalize a trade on AIM. You post it up and both parties confirm...But IMing makes it a LOT easier to work out details BEFORE you post the final trade.

Trillian (as pr0phet suggested above) is the way to go. Its like 5 chat programs in one. According to the Trillian website, "Trillian™ is a fully featured, stand-alone, skinnable chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC." Thats what I'll be using.
