Letterman card's are card's that contain a JSY swatch of one of the letters off of a player's nameplate on their JSY, usually the whole letter is included and takes up most, if not all of the card. They are often autographed by that player as well.

You have to watch out though for manufactured patches. These look the same as letterman's however the letter JSY swatch has often had nothing to do with that player and has just been manufactured to look like a letter off of that player's JSY. Hope this helps!

Actually, almost all of the letters (Threads, SP Rookie Threads, SP Authentic, HP) are manufactured. Only stuff like NT and Limited are real, game worn letters, and those are extremely limited for obvious reasons. I'm pretty sure most people understand that you're not dealing with GU stuff.

chances are most letterman are the fake manufactored letters, with the team colors...and it either spells out the players last name, or team name they play for.

the rare and highend ones are ones like the previous poster mentions, sometimes found in leaf limited or national treasures.

a common way of knowing if a letterman is an actual letter is...it will be numbered 1/whatever amount of letters are in the last name. For example Brett Favre...chances are his letterman subset if he has any...The F will be 1/5, A 1/2, etc. The ones mass produced are just letters printed and then signed.

That's a very nice looking Kevin Kolb letterman!! I have no intention of getting any of the manufactured lettermans but the actual GU one's are a clever idea!!
