Cedrick Wilson released by the Steelers.
After being arrested for assulting his girlfriend, the Steelers release WR Cedrick Wilson. Hate to see talent go, but the Steelers have have always been a team that doesn't stand for bad publicity.

Glad to see him go.
He only produced 81 catches, 1162 yards and 2 TD's in three seasons. I thought he was a bad signing to begin with, never thought he was an effective WR, and hated that he kept getting the #3 WR spot even though he was unproductive.
Now if they would just cut that midget SS Tyrone Carter.......

Ha Ha! I was trying to be neutral, but if we're keeping it real, you're right.

To be honest, I am not sold on Nate Washington either. I thought he was majorly inconsistent and had way too many drops this season. Considering Ced is gone Nate will probably move up to the #3 spot.
I would love to see the Steelers invest a high draft pick in a tall WR to play opposite Santonio after Hines retires. Hines just turned 32 so he probaly won't play but 1 or maybe 2 more seasons after this year. Now would be a great time to add a guy like Earl Bennett or Adarius Bowman or use a late pick on someone like Marcus Monk.

What about Dallas Baker? Even though he went high in last years draft, he was one of the best WR's in the draft. The guy is 6'3" and 208lbs. If Roethlisberger wants a tall receiver, then he needs to look no further.

I don't have much faith in Baker either. If he couldn't beat out Ced, Nate or Willie Reid for a roster spot last season then how good could he be?

Guys maybe you should look at nfl.com and see the roster the Steelers have a 6'6" WR rookie Trannon on the squad!!!!!! Hopefully he can pan out. That is what Big ben has wanted and now that he is signed maybe they'll go get one or keep Trannon on the team!
I was happy with the signing of M. Moore RB till I looked at his stats! OMG 2 tds and 6 fumbles are you kidding me? Theres 6 RB's on the roster right now so doesn't look good for 4-5 of them. We know Parker isn't going anywhere. Need to draft one wr like burris without the attitude

Trannon fills the "big" WR role but what are the odds of him starting opposite Holmes after Hines retires? I can't find any info on him. Other than he spent some time on the Cards practice squad he doesn't appear to have any experience. Considering his size he could be the guy. Any idea what his 40 time is?
Moore will make the roster. He was essentially signed to make it possible to release Davenport who is getting old and slowing down. He counts about $320k less against the cap than Davenport and Davenport is in the final year of his contract. Also Moore can return kicks and punts and plays the 3rd down back role.
Vernon Hayes, Najeh Davenport and Justin Vincent(?) won't make the first cut roster.

Well it would be sweet if manningham fell to late second round for the Steelers but i don't see that happening. davenport should have known when they signed Moore he's days were numbered. Since they released rossum someone has to return kicks/punts. Don't like holmes doing it as the #2 wr. I believe they'll draft a G in the 1st rd this year.
2nd rd should be a CB or WR 3rd being whatever they don't choose in the 2nd. Maybe we'll get lucky like with Roethlisberger!!! I almost had a heart attack when I seen him fall to us! Hoping the draft gods shine on us again this year. Maybe give baker a shot as a return man. He is on the roster.
