In honor of the 5.3 shake in Middle America. I'm wondering what kind you have been through.

I have experienced or seen in person
Hail Storms
Nor'Easters
Hurricane Hugo and too many others to name
Typhoons, in Japan I just don't remember the names
Tornados, saw it and very glad it wasn't up close and personal
Northridge Earthquake and plenty of other shakes
Not to mention the freak Blizzards I have been in and other crazy storm stories.


A guys was struck by lightning while we were surfing, I just got out because I saw one strike in the distance. He was cooked and was killed instantly. With that being said, Common sense isn't common, don't you know.

One of the scariest things I have ever seen was a tree get struck by lightening..Several years ago I was at a festival that a local school was having..It had started to rain pretty heavy so my friends I was with and myself decided to walk a couple blocks away to my one friends house..It was thundering pretty bad and there was alot of lightening..We were walking down the street and there was a bright flash, next thing we knew the lightening struck a huge tree that was about 50 or so feet in front of us...Needless to say there was pieces of the flying all over the place, we all started to run a sfast as we could to get to my friends house..

After the storm passed we walked back up to there the tree was a huge burn mark on what was left of the tree trunk where the lightening hit...Thanks Ed

I've never experienced a disaster (thankfully), but I was about 20-25 miles away from an F5 tornado that hit Jarrell, Texas in May of 1997. The tornado warning alarm sounded in the city I was in. I think an F2 or F3 hit near us that day. We drove by later and saw some of the destruction.

When Shayne and I were babies and still lived in NC we were in part of a hurricane. I dont know which one...can never remember. lol It wasnt bad or anything from what mom says. Other than that and the semi earthquake this morning I've experienced nothing. I would love to see a tornado though...a tiny one, not one of them huge ones.

Been through alot. Blizzards, Hurricanes (1 in Maryland/ 1 in England), plenty of earthquakes (stationed in california) kinda something you live with there. Now I live in "Tornado Alley". Give me an earthquake I hate tornadoes.

Ash, it was hurricane Hugo. We were in Chapel Hill so we didn't get the bad part of it.
Now I can add a semi-earthquake to my list. hahaha
I want to see a tornado though. Like Ash said, a small one not one of the huge scary ones. A baby tornado that doesn't destroy much//especially my house and my beautiful diecast cars and cards.

I live at the south end of tornado alley. I've seen, but not experienced, seven different tornado's. I've also worked insurance claims on several others that I did not actually see the storm but the effects were definately there. The one storm that I did experience included hail between baseball and softball size. It was devastating and kept the entire insurance industry busy for MONTHS following.

many earthquakes,a couple floods and icestorms a typhoon but we just called it a windstorm and then there was that mountain that exploded

I was only 2 years old so I do not remember it but I was at the 1989 World Series between the A's and Giants when the famous quake hit. Like I said I don't remember any of it, but according to my parents we were in the upper deck and the whole deck felt like it was swaying. Also said that it took an eternity for us to get home due to the bay bridge collapse.

lol funny you posted this now....I just litrally got hit by a tornado last weekend. The roof was damaged from one of our big tree's falling on it. My car survived with minor damage, but my brothers truck wasent so lucky.
