    Game clock screws Orlando Magic

5.1 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Pass inbounded. Clock started but then stopped at 4.8.

My question is, why couldn't they have done a do-over? By rule, they couldn't review the play.

Detroit won the game by 7 points, but it was a 1 point game in the last minute.

Yeah I seen that, I'm starting to believe that the refs and the NBA want the pistons to go against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. There was a lot of questionable calls during the Sixers series. Including a kicked ball by the pistons which the refs "somehow" missed.

The refs can review a play to see if a shot was released prior to the buzzer, but they can't review to see how many seconds/time is left on the clock.

Good play by the Pistons because I think Billups saw that the clock didn't work and took advantage.

Can't the refs just stop play if the clock is not working/running?

Yes, they can stop play, but since they didn't notice it, the play has to go on and they had to estimate if there was still time left on the clock or if the play took up the time allotted. It's confusing to explain, so I hope people understand what I'm getting at.

This is the ignorance of NBA. With the game depending on tenths of seconds these days, they should be able to review the plays if the calls were questionable.
I think NBA should adopt NFL and Tennis rules where one team or a player (for tennis) can challenge calls if they think the calls were questionable.
With high tech, why not take advantage of it? Lets make games fair.

Does someone manually start the clock? It is weird that it stopped at 4.8. Well I guess if the game wasn't close it wouldn't have mattered, but since it was that is why there is a hub-bub about it. Sucks for the Magic.

I saw this yesterday. They were saying that the rule only allows the ref's to see the replay if the clock reached the 0.0. since it didn't went down to 0 they could'n use the replay. They should review the rules because that was a crcuail moment on the game. They should do it like in the NFL, give coaches at least two challenges.

The game clock operator was from Minnesota according to the commentators. That should rule out any "cheating" but who knows.

How could the refs not notice the clock stop? With three on the court you would figure someone was watching the clock!

Obviously U didn't watch the C's/Atlanta Series......The Refs did a good job giving the Hawks some crazy phantom calls. Plus they shot 71 more free throws overall.
