    eBay pet peeves

Things I absolutely cannot stand to see when buying cards on the Bay...

    10. Sellers who want outlandish amounts of money for stupid error cards
    9. The phrase "this is a great investment!"
    8. Sellers who break up a complete set and sell the cards individually instead of all together
    7. Sellers who put an auction up right before going on vacation for 2 weeks
    6. Pages that are full of bouncing .gif images and lavish praise for some loser's career to try to convince you to buy a card of said loser
    5. The Canadian postal system
    4. Buyers who leave you negatives or neutrals because "it didnt arive fast enugh"
    3. Sellers who can't tell a refractor from a base card, even when they are specifically marked
    2. $9.99 shipping for a $.99 card
    1. When the description just says "baseball cards" and the guy is charging $2000 for five early 90s commons

well i leave negative if shipping takes to long, example i paid the item immediatly after winning, it took 3-4 weeks for it to arrive, now comeon thats to long, and there was no communication. i also hate, that sellers wont leave feedback until you leave it for them, they say "so they can remember to leave you yours if you leave them feedback" i also hate 3.50-4.00 shipping on one card in a bubble mailer.

or sellers who say they didnt ship it because "they went on vacation" then state that in the auction or dont put it up. also if you use fake pictures to draw people in and if you try to trick someone into buying a retail box instead of hobby

I hate non-payers, pure and simple. I sold Halo 3 twice now, both for just over $30, and both time non-payers, and one is even no longer registered. UNREAL!!

And now witht the SWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEET new policy, I can't as a seller leave negative feedback. Who's the absolute $%^& that thought that one up...he/she should be beaten with a 2X4.

    I have a couple:

    1 - 4$ shipping on a single card
2- Sellers who use generic scans for singles and lots - for instance showing a scan of Yankee cards for every other team lots or an example card from a set. Sorry, I want to see the actual cards.
3- Use of WOW LOOK etc

ONLY when they do it all the time then it means they are a GREEDY MR. MINT type. Which means alot of nice old vintage sets get broken up.

Sellers who put an auction up right before going on vacation for 2 weeks
YES 9 times out of 10 it is usually a scam. Either in the sense they hope after enough time passes you just leave them alon. Or in the sense if they have had any negative or neutral feedback on shipping times. This way they can cover for themselves being lazy. Every once in awhile though it is due to lack of intelligence and not knowing it is better to wait until after your actual vacation to do any amiling type interactive business dealings.

I haven't had that problem but I did actually have two different people ask me and I'am not making this up. Ask me they won on a Sunday night , paid on sometime Monday then Tuesday afternoon I see a message asking me why their cards haven't arrived yet , and then one of them even had the nerve to say in addition to that I will have to contact Ebay if this card doesn't arrive shortly. Oh well these are the kinds of dumb people you will get / attract to your business when you had something good going and then constantly tinker with it in the name of greed.

    High shipping charges ..

and People who leave generic feedback. I did get a few nice ones for my troubles
but mostly nice card and that's when I would give bonus cards.

Shipping costs for outside the US are ridiculous. One card should cost to ship between $3-4 maximum, and some sellers ask more than $10 for it. I was asked $20 once simply because he didn´t knew where Portugal was.

Presales on wax/cases months before they come out. Paypal does not cover you and not only can you get screwed, but who knows about or wants to buy it way ahead of time, i can see 10-15 days...

The worst thing for me is when sellers use gang scans. I don't want to see other cards clouding the scan of the card I am interested in.

On a related note, it irks me when sellers have bad or blurry scans, especially when its a decent-dollar card.

The shipping is an issue too. Pretty much any single card can be shipped for under $2 with DC (from PayPal or at the PO). I can understand if its a thicker card shipped in a case. In this instance, $3-4 is reasonable, at least in my opinion. However, you have to look at it from a seller's perspective too. I mean, realistically, shipping is where you can make an extra buck or two. It doesn't matter to me if you want to quote eBay rules about making $ off of shipping (its so loose in a real transaction though, it hardly applies unless its serious gouging). I sell a little too, and fees are taking an increasingly bigger chunk of a sale, so it has to come from somewhere.

Another thing is sellers not taking the time to put a decent description. A lot of the time, I see a one line listing and the picture, and that's it. Its not so hard to save a draft of a similar card listing, and copy the parts about shipping and payment for each auction. Too many sellers are getting lazy.

Don't even get me started on the grammar and spelling in auctions...
