20,000 cards!
I was cruising craigslist and came across a recent divorcee who is looking to rid herself of her ex's collection. So, long story short, I have 20,000 cards coming to me for under $200, with the years going as far back as the 50s.
pretty excited!

Hope it's not just a bunch of early 90s commons. Those "divorce sales" run a lot on eBay.

I think they tend to get reported and removed more often now, but for several years, there have been large lots of sports cards dumped on eBay with the descriptions claiming they belonged to some lady's ex-husband or ex-boyfriend and she was selling them to get back at him.
Read the description of this auction:

It's almost a cliche on eBay. Search for "ex-husband" on ebay and then make sure to check the "search title and description" box and you'll see what I mean.
These still turn up more often than the "ex-boyfriend" sales, since technically those would be sale of stolen goods.
Still...if you do get 20,000 cards for under $200, that's still less than a penny each. Provided they're not all 1991 Donruss or 1990 Fleer, you could probably make your money back on Sportlots.Last edited by DaClyde; 08-19-2008 at 08:53 AM.

hate to say it, but i would expect to get a ton of 90s commons that are maybe worth 1-3 cents each. these types of sales are among the more common scams run- they promise a ton of good cards, and provide cheap, mass produced commons. Id be amazed if you get anything nice, but I hope you do

In that ebay sellers feed back one guy says this:
"Great cards! got Kenny Rogers rookie!"
come on a Kenny Rogers rookie? Whats that book $0.75? Hope you get some nice stuff though
