make a ridiculous higher bid that you can still afford, but not hurt your pocket. Its hard sometimes.

just bid your max amount seconds before the auction ends

justsnipe.com has 5 free snipes a week for you or its $5 a month for unlimited snipes. I usually set a snipe at 2 seconds before the auction ends.
