Whats wrong with it is people who work hard to make rent, and he got money from his parents, his father may have started with nothing but he didnt. he didnt have to work so hard to make his money, where people work so hard just to make ends meet and he feels need to own 7 houses, its hard for people with alot of money to understand the life style of living pay check to pay check, believe me its not a good site

That's bad, yes, but it has nothing to do with McCain having 7 houses. His having many houses does not affect ANYONE but himself.

but to say publicly he "forgot" how many houses he has, doesnt that come of really bad. lots of democrats are people who are making minimum wage so a statement like that can really piss them off. its the fact that he made it seem so ignorant, like "oh i dont know how many houses i have, last time i counted maybe 5 or so?" thats not something to have your possible president to say. it may not be important, but it comes off as very ignorant

I dont at all believe in a flat tax rate...if you want to eliminate income taxes all together, great...but to tax somebody making minimum wage at the same percentage as somebody making a few hundred thousand year im not cool with...I dont think people in the 35% bracket are exactly struggling, maybe struggling to buy that 5th car or that 2nd vacation home...but how do you think somebody making 20,000 a year is gonna do at the 35% bracket? They're probably skipping a few meals to make ends meet at that rate...I am absolutely in favor of things like Earned Income Credit for low earners, but I guess people view that as wealth re-distribution

We look at the tax rate from the wrong perspective. Don't look at it from the government's standpoint (Oh, that richboy doesn't need all that money). Look at it from the People's point of view (Why the heck does the government need all the money?). They waste money like it's nothing because to the government, it truly is nothing. If they tax it, it comes. Expert economists, which I hope to become one day, have shown how much money would be generated from a flat tax rate and it's an astounding amount. And I don't mean raising the bottom tax rate. I mean lowering every tax rate bracket to the bottom. The government is doing an AWFUL job of helping the poor according to Obama, so why don't We The People take control of that again?

If I made a bundle of money, had my taxes way lowered, I would be so happy to help a poor family/families. The government is terrible at this.

well, i agree with you daniel...and im not looking at it from the governments perspective...they absolutely dont need all that money, and im more than fine with rich people, well all people for that matter, keeping as much as they can...hell, i prepare taxes for people, i do my best to help them keep as much as they can

show me some figures these expert economists have come up with, i'd be happy to look...

i never said it had to do with anyone or affected anyone but what need does a person have for 7 houses unless your michael vick?

How does it matter what McCain needs 7 houses for? His choice.. shouldn't really matter at all..

I'm still trying to figure out how Democrats are the only people who demonize the rich. Also, since when does taxation indicate demonization? Finally, if the Democrats hate the wealthy so much, then why do they appeal to them? Look at the last election:

In 2006, those making between $150,000 and $200,000 voted for Democratic candidates by a whopping 63-37 majority, and those making more than $200,000 went Democratic by a slim 50-48 margin.

    Because f*** 'em, that's why.

There is no way to become rich in the US without doing harm to the country and its citizens anymore. Or if not this country and its citizens, some other country and its citizens. You know, the way Nike uses Asian children for slave labor. I know YOU don't care about that, but some of us do.

They raised themselves up by biting and clawing their way to the top, therefore the state has the right, duty and obligation to pull them back down by taxing their brains out. Either that, or they inherited it, like your boy Bush. Every spoiled little rich kid deserves a nice, cold dose of reality, preferably administered rectally.

What better way to theorize how a flat tax would do than to observe other comparable countries with it?

    Wow, that's extremely communistic.

Remember this statement everytime you sign into SCF because of that evil Bill Gates, richest man in the world, created Microsoft. Forget the fact that his invention has created countless jobs internationally and that he single handedly brought on an information and communication revolution.

And you must always remember that rich people get rich because they are selling something. If we refuse to buy, then they don't get rich.

A Federal Republic is also a lot different economically than a Democracy. You should know this.
