and trust me ive listened to rap... have lived in the "ghetto" and know what really happens... rap is a tool for sending out a message ( positive or negative) alot of these kids would never think of doing these things if it wasnt thrown in their face that you act a certain way and you will come out of the ghetto and live like the lifestyles of the rich and famous... it glorifies killing in order to advance in life... for a poor kid on the street that watches his mother struggle to feed them..it gives these kids FALSE HOPE and rather than encouraging them to get an education to advance they need to go kill and sling drugs

Bingo. And the sad part is these suburb kids eat it up. They think its so cool. Talk about ignorance.

yes you do have a point there. a lot of gangster rap is about how that person grew up and there are more rappers out there that made it by selling drugs than by by education

thank you.... not all rap is bad " there are some positive messages" but they are out numbered by the negativity that exudes from the majority of rap. i will concur heavy metal has some negativity in it... but it ultimately comes down to the individual and circumstance.... i grew up listening to the hardest of hard ( rap AND metal) i think i turned out ok... but i also obtained an excellent education at the same time and was lead by strong positive role models.... thats what these kids really need
