You can't expect a rookie to carry the load right away. I think Johnson could help them in short yard situations.

Oh, btw, I busted 10 packs of Upper Deck football Saturday at the shop. Got a lot of RC's I needed for the set, including SP's of Sedrick Ellis and Desean Jackson. Hits were a Terrell Owens Team Colors jersey, Chris Johnson rookie jersey, and an Early Doucet III signature shots autograph.

He worked out and has now signed with the Lions. He will back up Kevin Smith. Here is a quote :
"The Detroit Lions have confirmed that free agent running back Rudi Johnson has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the team. Because the deal was struck after 4 p.m., after the league offices closed, the signing won't be official until Tuesday morning."
