Mods I was not sure where to post this so if you could move it to where it needs to be would be great. I put it in here as this is where I do all my stuff.
When did sports cards turn into money and not a hobby? I think it happened around the time Tom Brady took off. Honestly I am a huge Oakland Raiders fan and do you think I will ever get a Darren McFadden? To answer that it is a no,unless I pull one. The reason being whenever someone has one they want twice the bv and do not care about what it will mean to the person getting it. I have traded Higher end cards I have pulled to other people for alot lower stuff cause I know they will enjoy it more then I ever will. I guess I was hoping for someone to return the favor. I today seen a McFadden auto and thought well I will try AGAIN to trade for one. The response I got was "He will sell it on E-bay cause the price he will get and he is a powerseller". I just think that this hobby has takin a turn for the worse. Whatever happened to just trading some cards? If you do not have Adrian Peterson,Brett Favre,Darren McFadden or 1/1's its like you have nothing nobody wants. I am not trying to upset anyone I just want people to stop and think.

I agree with you, but the reason people ask for so much on him is because they are looking for the huge flip. I am a Raiders fan aswell, and even though I am willing to pay for a DMAC auto, I will wait until all the hype slows down to get some. Regardless if he doesn't put up AP numbers, which some people are thinking, i will still collect him because he is a Raider.

i completely agree with you, and have nothin to add lol cuz you pretty much said it all
On a seperate rant, what I would love to do is trade not by BV, or CV, or SV (what the heck is CV btw?) but use personnal value. For instance, hey i like your card _____. You like my card _____. And then you trade. Becket has a blurb everyone should read, right there in the front "This is just a guide."
That being said its hard to get on that soapbox, as I have many times asked to trade by SV for certain cards or declined trades based on BV's not matching. Still, take away becket and ebay and we'd all be a lot happier, just a bunch of people mailing each other their 3" by 5" cardboard pieces
lol, o well imperfect world
take care

I totally disagree, money has always been a part of the hobby since the run up in the late 70's. In your example you wanted a card that could be easily sold for cash which could buy what you were offering in book value (even up) and still have enough to get a McChicken and shake. I don't see any reason to trade someone something (unless is low value) just because they'll enjoy it.
I've been back on for just a couple weeks now and made a big trade with low level jerseys and chrome base cards (to fill sets), swapped autos, traded and auto for some refractors.
You're difficulty is due to you wanting the hottest guy right now, not that the other guys are bad. I'm not calling you out, I'm just saying everyone spends a lot of money on their cards and they're not gonna give it away due to the other persons pure enjoyment. I would suggest collecting Janikowski or Walker. These are not top notch players and you can always get an edge for peoples stuff of them even autos or patch cards.
I like picking up D'Brickshaw stuff when I see it because I can always get a big edge and I like the guy.

As a huge DMac fan, I feel your pain. But, there are many affordable DMac auto cards out there. For whatever reason, everyone hates Press Pass. But for my $, you can get a DMac PP on-card auto for $50 or so (I've seen sales as low as $36 before, but steals like that are rare). Give me those cards all day and let someone else collect the Holofoil prismatic die cut rainbow parallel sticker auto card #/20 that is ugly as ****.
Patience pays.....my avatar was selling $300 when it came out----I paid nowhere close to that. This hobby is full of pretty much every type of loser imaginable, but there are people out there that will help out a fellow collector----if you find the person you're dealing with to be a turd, move on and deal with the next person-----there will be plenty of DMacs, don't worry. And though the good guys are getting harder to find in the hobby, there are a few left.
GL to you and here's to a 1600 yard season by our favorite rookie.

Dude, I couldn't agree more. His first autos were going for so much, and now they are going for half of that. I think that is all apart of the rookie hype every year, Reggie Bush cards that were selling well over 1,000 arent even close to 500 nowadays. I think the hype will die down, and prices will go down. As for people not wanting to trade, some people spend money on getting those cards as tradebait for other PC items, and they won't give them up easily.

I think the problem you are going to have getting anything McFadden is all the hype like almost every rookie has. You could either get something like a press pass auto now they are fairly cheap or wait until next years draft comes around maybe even two years even if he rushes for 1000+ yds both years his cards aren't going to be as saught after as they are right now. Unless he makes the pro bowl and the Raiders win the super bowl which isn't likely but you never know I guess.

I 100% agree with you it seams like everybody sells there csrds and just trys to make a profit off of it. Im in it for fun, I love collecting memoribilia of some of my favorite players and legendary players but it seams like 90% of people sell there cards. I have sold like 1 card and itr was to get more cards. Also, I agree with loflo if i really really like a card i dont care about bv or sv im going after it with as much as it takes to get it. I hate when someone pulls like an amazing card and says its on ebay immediatley. Its like they dont even deserve that card. Id rather have some little kid pull that and just see them hold onto it forever then some guy who says sweet now im going to make a profit.
