I'll try to explain a little better. From what I understand from what I was told when I was little, there is a loophole somewhere...

From the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Website:

Defacement of Currency

Defacement of currency is a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code. Under this provision, currency defacement is generally defined as follows: Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined not more than $100 or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
Defacement of currency in such a way that it is made unfit for circulation comes under the jurisdiction of the United States Secret Service.

So first, it is legal as long as it does not render the piece of currency to be reissued and if you do it without intent for the US to reissue the piece of currency. So technically, a stamp with a website is not illegal under law unless the stamp makes the currency unfit for circulation (I'm not in the Secret Service or anything, but it would appear to me that these stamps don't do any harm).
I couldn't find anything about the loophole I was talking about, but that should be sufficient enough.

I believe the stamps ARE legal, but if you write in ink on it, that is illegal....I think I read that when I first signed up on that site awhile back

you can write on them if you want to but it just cant make the dollar unable to be used again. If you write all over the bill then who is gonna want to use it but if you simply write or stamp a bill with www.wheresgeorge.com then i see no harm

Yeah, I have received money before with some ink writing on it. I was able to use it without any problems.

Wait I'm right here! Who wants to know where I am at? I don't need a website to track my whereabouts.
Thanks George
