    observations

Has anyone else read Mccain Tax plan? Tax cuts have worked out so well the last 8 years. The one that gets me is that if you having insurance through work what they take out is not taxed under mccain plan it will be so he will be raising taxes on millions but it's only pointed out on the news in passing..

It really doesn't matter I would say Mccain has it wrapped up barring an October suprise. The polls are close but I would say that the 10 percent undecided will break about 80 percent for Mccain. When it comes down to it I see millions of Americans not being able to pull the lever for the black guy. The sad thing is if it's even close we probably won't know for months as the lawsuits have already started on both sides..

I think before we try and spread democracy around the world maybe we should get it in the US A guy can become president with less then 20 votes if only 1 person Voted in Cal., Pa, NY, FL, Oh, Mi and a few other big states for candidate A and none for B it doesn't matter if Candidate B gets 1,222,222,222,222,222 votes in the other states they would lose the election to the guy with 20 votes.. THAT'S why so many people don't vote, if you are a Dem in a red state or a Rep. in a blue state what's the point

Is this an argument against the Electoral College?

If so, take that up with Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and company since they put it in the United States Constitution. Those guys were idiots anyway...

I completely agree that the Electoral College is pointless. Why do you not just count the votes and majority wins?

Because if that was how it was done, none of the candidates would ever come to my state, Tennessee. They would stick to the four corners plus Texas. New York, LA, Miami, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas would be the only places getting to see the candidates, and much more importanly, would be the only ones who get to have laws and platforms made for their needs.

Candidates would be extremely liberal because that would easily win the urban vote--the only vote that would matter in a popular election. If you think you have a smal voice now, wait until an abolishment of the Electoral College.

The Electoral College is great because it incorporates state elections with federal elections by determining how many Electoral votes go to each party from the state election. It's a good, unique system.

First off just because it's in the Constitution doesn't make it right(ask Bush)..

I'm not saying go 100 percent with the popular vote but instead of states being winner take all go by the votes in each state.. Exampel

If there is 10 votes and Mccain win state 60/40 Then he gets 6 and Obama gets 4.. If it's an odd number the winner of the state gets the extra vote. Back when they came up with the rules there wasn't 50 states to travel through and we hadn't gone through a bitter civil war splitting the country. I voted in 2000 even though I knew my vote was a waste and just toilet paper. I knew Gore would win PA but voted for Bush anyway. I will vote in the local and state elections this year when I wheel my father to vote but probably avoid the big one(wish they had none of the above lol)..
