Manufactured Patches vs Fake Patches
I bought 2 boxes of 08 UD Icons yesterday. The box advertises 2 LETTERMEN cards per box. I did not see it listed on the box that they are MANUFACTURED Lettermen. (I may have just missed it)Here is my question:
Why do we not get mad at card companies for inserting manufactured patches? Are these not fake patches? Did the player wear or use them? NO! This is just another SCAM by the companies.
I dont see how this differs from the guy selling after market cards on ebay that he puts a patch on. I am NOT talking about the guy who changes patches and is trying to dupe the buyer into thinking it came from the factory that way. I am talking about the seller who states in the listing that it is an aftermarket patch.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
Just my thought for the day.
Thanks, John

I am mad about it but it's not really a fake patch. I hate the autographed ones as weel becuase the ink is going to soak in the card in a few years. I don't know why people by products like this but as long as they do card compainies are going to keep making them.

Its not a scam, its not right, but in no way is it a scam
The card companies in no way claim the letters are game or event worn and state exactly that on the cards. Its the buyers responsibility to research the product they are going to buy.
Fake patches are a scam because the person is representing a patch as game worn/event worn by that player and it is not.
I hate manufactured patches just as much as everyone else, but to call them a scam is wrong.

Maybe scam is not the right word to use. The Lettermen cards I pulled yesterday do not say one way or the other if they are manufactured or GU on the card itself.
If a person states in the auction that the patch is after market, then it is not a scam, it is no different then the card companies making them. At least in my humble opinion. For the record, I dont make/sell aftermarket cards nor do I buy them.
Thanks, John

Both ruin the Hobby, I could see manufactured as an insert in a retail pack but not in a Hobby Pack that you pay alot of money for. It is no different than the base cards in the pack. I was surprised that a good friend of mine was so happy when he pulled a Jack lambert manufactured letter this year. He loved it because it was a Steeler and that is who he collects. So I guess some people do like them and I was happy for him and did not give my negative opinion on the product.
