2000
Ok.
Forget about what party you're for. Or what you are NOW.
But prior to 2004! And I mean 2004 (NOT NOW). Who would you REALLY want president at the time of 9/11/01?
Gore or Bush?
And I ask of everyone to say who they would want to be president at THAT TIME, and give reasons why.
If you CANT give reasons why, get off this thread, you are not welcome.
I just want opinions. Please give me some insight.
Thank you

Gore...might as well give the other guy a chance. I've already seen how bad Bush dealt with 9/11
If Gore was prez, I would think he would be smart enough to leave the Florida classroom upon word of being under attack, rather than sit there for 10 minutes with no intelligence about what was occurring.
If Gore was prez, Dick Cheney would not have been the VP. Therefore he wouldn't have been acting as president in the White House bunker while Bush flew around the country on Air Force One, and wouldn't have been giving stand down orders to incoming aircraft in DC.
If Gore was prez, we might've had an ACTUAL investigation. I would like to think Gore wouldn't have stonewalled it for 14 months, and then agree to meet with the commission ONLY if his VP was with him, they could meet in the oval office with no cameras, and not under oath.
Hell, if Gore was prez, 9/11 might not have even happened.

Hell, if Gore was prez, 9/11 might not have even happened.
It had been planned for years - it wasn't a 9 month plan that happened.
Noone knows how Gore would've done, so I think it's pointless speculating. Everyone screws up on something, and people just think it's easier blaming the one in office, and wish for the one who's not. I would bet that we would be having this same conversation if Gore had been president. "What would've Bush done?"

What was Bush really going to acomplish by leaving the little kids? Was he going to run to the trade center and run inside and resue people? When the first one happened eveyone thought it was an accident anyway.
I would take Bush, i took him then and i wold vote for him again if possible

A good start would have been to excuse himself, assemble the staff and figure out what happened, who was responsible and how to address the situation. Cheney admitted that he speculated it was a terrorist attack when the first plane hit and when the second hit, it confirmed his suspicions.

Yeah, I agree with you...but the question was if we could go back to 2000, who would you rather have. Well, we had Bush and I feel he did a horrible job, so I chose Gore...
When 2 hijacked airplanes have struck targets within 15 minutes, and not having the knowledge of what exactly was going on, that the president would have excused himself from the classroom to tend to a national emergency.

I voted for Bush but would have rather seen Gore. Maybe he could have pieced all the clues together to prevent it. Like the Memos, The warnings that arabs were learning to fly and not land etc. The clues were there the dots were not connected..
We would not be in Iraq right now and would have went after the guy who did this, I'm not saying he would be caught or killed but it's not like he's rotting in a jail or running for his life right now.
The constitution would not have been shredded with the unpatriotic act and illegal wiretapping(which they admit they listen into soldiers calls home even phone sex).
And most of all the war would have been run better, went in with enough troops and a plan and more important the soldiers would have been better armed. And there wouldn't be mercinary groups with trigger happy people getting paid 5 to 10 times what the american soldiers are getting paid.

I respect all your opinions, but the one I put in bold baffles me.
You think we became the most hated country in the world just because of Bush? We've been that way for awhile.
And 9/11 wasnt the first attack, we've had some prior.
