9/11 was the first major attack on american soil...the uss cole & the embassy bombings didn't happen in Manhattan...no, i dont think we became the most hated country because of Bush...
the comment you bolded basically was summed up by streicher...gore might have connected the dots, he might not have...either way, we know Bush didn't

And maybe pigs would've grown wings and flown around the room. Speculating what might have happened is pointless IMO. We don't know. We'll never know. While everyone is saying that it probably would've been better, turn it around. There is the same probability that it would've been worse.

He didnt sum up that comment. And what does connecting the dots have to do with 9/11 happening or not? If 9/11 didnt happen, there would be no dots to connect. But why do you think 9/11 might not have happened if Gore was in office?

Everyone makes a big deal out of Bush's reaction at the school. As we all know, hindsight is 20/20, so it's easy to destroy him with no idea of what you or another would do in the same situation.
When someone whispers to you that two towers in NYC have been hit by airplanes, you could make an infinite number of conclusions. I ask, would the day have been different if Bush left 10 minutes earlier? Unfortunately, no. Bush wasn't elected to be an emergency engineer for downtown Manhattan, and I think anyone who uses his reaction at the school isn't considering what could have possibly been going through his head.
And someone said something about connecting the dots about Arabs learning to fly planes and not land them. Ok, let's take that logic and apply it to today: If Bush were to act on information like that, he would be called a racist and would chastized to no end. That's not enough information to determine a historical terrorist attack. "Oh my goodness, Arab people are learning to fly airplanes but not land them! THEY'RE GOING TO FLY INTO THE TWIN TOWERS!!!!" Come on, people.
If I was of age and could vote again, I would vote for Bush a thousand times before I vote for Gore. In times of crisis, the stature of the president is as important or more important than the actions itself. He did a fantastic job putting a face of humble strength on it all, and if you disagree, you're probably just bitter.
His presidency was doomed to fail due to Gore's disgraceful to recount and recount votes (none of which ever had him winning). The liberal media would never let him off for that.

Yes, it was. But i believe it was due to the attacks. This had never happened before, so we had no history to look back on to see what had worked in the past. So he did what he thought was right. Some was right, some wasnt. But if he had gone either way, there would still be a ton of people saying how he's the worst president and such. If Gore was the president, the same wouldve happened to him.
I'm willing to bet Gore is very happy he didnt win the election, who would want to deal with all the pressure Bush did? It was obviously a lose/lose situation.
Gore and democrats are probably looking back and saying "hmmmm, looks like we did 'win' afterall". (meaning now its easy for them to win this election, and they dont look like the bad guys)

There are a list of things that I disagree with bush on. I am mostly a republican but not blind to his faults. I think a lot of people put blame on him for things not in his control. Let's look at some of the things he had to face that weren't his fault:
1. 9/11
2. The dot com burst
3. The corporate scandals (enron, tyco, etc)
4. Current economic crisis (he began calling for reform to fannie and freddie 3 months after his first inaguration. Not blaming dems or repubs, just saying he saw it coming and was unable to do anything about it because congress wouldnt let him)

I'm not a fan of Bush by any means, but we don't know why he did what he did. Do you think we know alll the info. regarding 9/11? No. Do you think we know everything about the War in Iraq? No. With the info. that he has, he made the decision, not with the info. that we've been given.
That's why I'd stick with Bush.

I disagree with this and his handling because it was incorrect of him to continue to sit there when he just received word that both towers had been struck by planes. Being able to present a strong face for the country is not nearly as important as handling the tough situation in a presidential manner. That is pure, simple clear thinking, not bitterness.
Edit: As for the recounts dooming his presidency, I find this hypothesis to be rather preposterous. People would have been jaded no matter what happened and he should have the strength, ability, and know how to rise above constant down plays of his abilities and certify his place in history as a strong president.
