For the second time in a week, a prominent Democrat has downgraded Barack Obama's definition of the middle class.

Wait til he tries a universal health care program. Either the national debt will skyrocket or taxes will go up pretty much across the board

Why do you say that? The way I see it, I'm going to be able to afford health care under Obama's plan. I'm middle class and am uninsured. I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars for checkups.

he says that because in order for obama's plan to work, he is going to need increased taxes from more than just the 250,000+ crowd.

I understand, thanks. But wouldn't cutting costs in other budgets, like military, be able to assist in paying for universal healthcare? If we can cut down on the billions we're spending in Iraq I don't see how universal healthcare cannot be accomplished without raising taxes on everyone. Just my opinion...not trying to convince anyone they have to buy into his plan.

We weren't at war during Clinton's administration and Hillary couldn't get it done. It's a nice idea, but most Americans realize that Government-run healthcare would be significantly worse than what we have now.
If we are unhappy with the Government, why in God's name would we yield our healthcare system to its power?? THINK PEOPLE!

Daniel's post pretty much sums it up. But to add to that, what exactly has Obama mentioned cutting spending for? Aside from Iraq, nothing that I've heard...everything is more, more, more.

Correct. This war is expensive, no doubt, but the funding of his programs exceeds that of this singular war. Citations available upon request.
If he really wanted to do something, he could cut medicaid and social security completely out and cut government spending on education. I know such things are taboo in today's society because we just accept that government should be involved in the teaching of children, the health of the "disabled", and the pro-longing of life of the elderly.
P.S. HOW BOUT OUR TITANS??????

keep in mind i am not really supporting either candidate, but cutting from the military would only be a short time fix. if you check other countries that have gov. assisted healthcare it is paid for by taxes. some countries pay around 17 dollars a gallon for gas. i know healthcare is outrages i have a wife and 3 kids under the age of 8, but i don't believe obama's plan will help. just my opinion.
