    Other Major votes from Yesterday

Thought I would list some of the major issues that went to vote on a state level yesterday and get people's feedback. There were definately "wins" for both left and right.

    Gay marraige banned in California
Abortion bans voted down in south dakota and colorado
    assisted suicide approved in washington
marijuana victories in mass and michigan
nebraska voted to outlaw race and gender based affirmative action
arkansas voted to prevent gay couples from being foster parents and adopting

Im steaming over that one. It makes no sense to me, however I'm willing to guarantee that in the next eight years, Gay Marriage will be legal in California.

    Gay marraige banned in California

That one actually comes as quite a shock.

nebraska voted to outlaw race and gender based affirmative action

That is great...hopefully that trend will continue.

Oh, and I'm disgusted by the Arkansas prop that passed to ban gay couples from adopting children.

yeah, some of these results are kind of surprising...its odd that people are against abortion, but then don't want gay couples adopting unwanted children...lol, makes no sense to me, but maybe somebody could help me understand

also, just saw that medical marijuana was passed in michigan with 63% of the vote, or over 3 million people voting yes!!!!! i'm sure my aunt was one of those yes votes......great stuff michigan!!! I believe we are now up to 14 states that have adopted medical marijuana laws!!!!!

i agree with some and disagree with others. regardless, I am happy we the people are voting as opposed to 1-7 judges with agendas making these decisions.

redgone - in michigan, the are allowing it for medicinal use. In massachusettes it is no longer a criminal offense for carrying less than 1 ounce. you must surrender the mar. and pay $100 civil fine but nothing criminal

I was very happy that this passed:
"nebraska voted to outlaw race and gender based affirmative action"

I was one of the votes for that.

That one just disturbs me. I can understand people being against gay marriage, but wow. That is discrimination at its finest right there.
