Boxers in UFC
Does anyone think that any of the top boxers today could make it in the UFC?
I honestly dont think so. Without having grappling skills they will get submitted in no time. MMA takes a complete fighter, not just someone who can punch.

Well, it depends. K.J. Noons was actually a pro boxer before MMA, and he did ok. I think boxers can develop decent grappling skills, or even good takedown defense. Chuck Liddell had great success with mianly a striking background.

Yeah, I dont mean they CANT be successful in the UFC. But if you just threw them in there as they are now I dont think they stand a chance. Id love to see mayweather jump in the octagon.
But good point on Liddell.

It's a different style dude, boxers have great cardio as far as being able to manuever around a ring. But its a whole lot different when it comes to grappling. I think Mayweather can be ok in MMA, but a lot of the lightweights usually walk at around 180 or so, and Mayweather doesn't lift the kind of weights that they do. So it's a totally different style of work ethic. It would be interesting though

Boxers competed in the UFC's early days, when they allowed all kinds of fighters, including sumo wrestlers. They didn't fare well.

Yeah, but back then and even as far back as 4 years ago, you can get away with being 1 dimensional. Royce Gracie was the 1st look at the modern day MMA fighter.
