William Jefferson Clinton inaugurated as the 42nd President of the United States
The Buffalo Bills lose their 3rd consecutive Super Bowl to the Dallas Cowboys
The Chicago Bulls win their 3rd consecutive NBA Championship
The Toronto Blue Jays win their 2nd consecutive World Series
The Munchkins were 4 years old

AND...
Jeff Gordon DOES NOT win a race in NASCAR's Cup Series! He had won at least 2 races every year until this year.

What was NASCAR like in 1993:

Dale Earnhardt wins his 6th WINSTON CUP championship
Race Winners were as follows:

NO races for Las Vegas, Chicago, Texas, Fontana, Indianapolis, Kansas, or Homestead-Miami

Jeff Gordon did win the Raybestos Rookie of the Year, beating out Bobby Labonte, Kenny Wallace, PJ Jones, and Todd Bodine

Steve Grissom won the BUSCH Series championship and Hermie Sadler was the ROY

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion was...NOT IN EXISTANCE

Gordon was one of only 8 drivers in todays race that appeared in ANY race in 1993. The others are Bill Elliott, Sterling Marlin, Bobby Labonte, Joe Nemechek, Michael Waltrip, Robby Gordon, and Jeff Burton

I was only 12 years old, and my biggest concern was did I have my homework done, I miss those days LOL.

Nice post man-I was 5-though I do remember 93 the racing yr-it was the first ever yr I watched full time!

Just to add to it:

93 was the yr of Rusty Wallaces 2 HUGE wrecks at Daytona and Dega and it led to the invention of the roof flap in 1994.

The inaugural race at New Hampshire was held-Rusty Wallace won-it was also Davey Allisons last race :(.

in a wreck at Talladega Jimmy Horton flew outta the track in turn 1! He was fine.

Nascar was awesome then, not that watered down crap it is now! I remember when Jimmy Horton flew out of the track, didn't someone, Stan Smith, I think the name is, get seriously injured when Horton flew over his car?

Didn't the late Neil Bonnett go airborne and rip up a large portion of fence in that same race?

I had just moved to North Dakota-my brother was one yr old-and I cheered for the bright orange tide car every sunday haha.

I was 7, and I was in 1st or 2nd grade. Can't exactly remember, but I do remember I dressed up as Mark Grace for Halloween that year.

The Browns were decent in 1993, I do remember that!

And I had absolutely no clue what NASCAR was.

And I can guarantee you that Jimmie was out somewhere in 1993 dominating some small racing division!

1993...just graduated HS, was going to community college. I was chasing Shaq rookies that year, just putting the finishing touches on my Topps series I BB set, never gave a second thought to NASCAR--I didn't buy any NASCAR until 1996--just focusing on getting my education and wondering what I will do with my life. Then fate came in and changed my life.

In April of 1993, I was getting the mail in front of my house when I was hit by a speeding car. I broke both bones in my lower left leg and fractured my hip. I had a steel rod put in my leg and out of action for six weeks. I stopped going to college for that semester but returned later that fall.

After the accident, I had a new feeling towards life...if wasn't about what I had in material things; they can be taken away form you at anytime. It never fully hit me until three years later when I gave up college and started appreciating life and what I can leave behind in memories and tales my friends and family will tell when I'm gone.

I may not be the richest man in Sidney (or anyplace else for that matter) but I feel like I am.

I was 8 years old, and had recently started my first personal card collection of my baseball idol, Jason Kendall (the JK part of my name on here...the C stands for Collector). He was recently drafted by my favorite team (the Pittsburgh Pirates) and even then I knew there was something about him that I liked. I had been collecting cards for a couple of years, but never collected an individual until then.

It was also around the time the Pittsburgh Pirates started their losing season streak (that I hope ends soon). It's not easy being a fan of a losing team.

And I had absolutely no clue what NASCAR was.

Same here, Jeremy. So you are not alone. Baseball was the only sport for me back then.

Hmmm back in 1993 I was 4. I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my monster sister. And my dog was put to sleep. And thats all I remember. :)
