I've heard of Yngwie and Gilbert... never the third though. I'll have to look him up. Back in my shredding days I was really into Nuno Bettencourt and Alex Skolnick as well.

Love both those guys too man. I'm only 24, but i love all that style of music. Pornograffiti is a sick album, and i love Nuno's tone. I am also a HUGE George Lynch fan. He is my favorite guitarist, I actually took online lessons with him for a year, and got to meet him after a show. When i was in my last band, he was supposed to come down here, and we were trying to set something up so we could throw a jam, but the promoter and his people couldn't come to an agreement, so it feel through.

Wow. That would have been sick! Maybe a dueling Mr. Scary? What an experience that would have been!
Lynch Mob was my very first hard rock concert. This was Wicked Sensation era. Great stuff man.
I still listen to Pornograffitti all the time. Best jams on there IMO are Decadence Dance and of course the Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee solo into He Man Woman Hater. That Top 40 stuff that's on there is junk.
I can't tell you how happy I am that younger guitarists are getting into the old shredders. They just don't make em like that anymore. I remember finding a YouTube clip of three guys in a high school band playing Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover at a talent show and the guy totally pulled it off the whole way through. I was incredibly impressed and it gave me hope for the future of music. Keep it up man! You gotta keep the legacy alive!

Yeah man, we were talking about which song to play. It was either going to be between Just Got Lucky, River of Love, or Mr. Scary. My favorite songs on Pornograffiti are "Little Jack Horny", "Money" and "He Man Woman Hater". Eric Johnson is a good guitairist. I saw Steve Vai live a while back in Houston, Eric Sardinas opended for him, not sure if you know him, great delta blues/rock guitarist. I got to meet Eric after the show, we talked, and he signed some poster that i pulled of the wall lol. I think the problem nowadays is that the music of the 80s, or from that era is looked as just more about flash than musicianship. But i'll say this man, those shredders, regardless of even how tacky their songs were, they could play circles around most guys today.

Nope never heard of him.
The only shredders I ever met were Dimebag Darrell and Jason Bieler from Saigon Kick. Say what you will about the band, he was a really good soloist.

One of my favorite shredders was Jason Becker, love is music, even the stuff he did with David Lee Roth

You mentioning Becker reminded me of Friedman. He was sick in Megadeth but his new stuff is too new-age for me.

Did you ever hear their band Cacophony? Great guitar playing, just a terrible singer

Yeah wasn't that both of them? I never heard any of it but with both those guys wailing away I can imagine it's pretty crazy.

Yeah, it was both of them. I was actually able to find both cds they released. The guitar playing is pretty unreal, the singer is terrible though.
