New TV Time!
Well, I'm finally getting a new TV. The one in my bedroom is from 1979. Ten years ago, it was deemed to be too old for my mom's school, so they gave it to her and upgraded. Anytime you can get some electronics that a public school district felt the need to replace, you know it's quality stuff. Besides that, it's been a good TV (and is basically a cube, so I can store stuff on top of it) until the last few months. The volume started going over the summer, but then came back strong recently. The picture, on the other hand, is a different story. It randomly goes widescreen, with the bottom few inches either disappearing or getting all scrunched up that it makes it look like I'm watching through a prism. This is especially painful when the ESPN bottom line is on, or when I'm watching football and the yard lines curve into an arc.
So, I finally decided to get a TV. After a few months of looking, found a good price on the #1 rated Consumers model, and bought it. Got an HDTV, even though I don't have HD service, just because it seems that every TV is an HDTV nowadays. Unfortunately, I can't put this in my living room because I don't want my son to do anything to it, so it'll stay in the bedroom. But, I'm getting a TV that's 30 years newer, and a good amount bigger (32 inches compared to 23). I'm pretty excited about it, and I'll have to start recording more of my shows on the bedroom TiVo.
Thanks for reading,
Andrew
Just checked - it was supposed to be delivered today, but it says "Delay in delivery due to external factors". The UPS site says it was a late trailer. In any case, it probably won't get here until tomorrow. Bummer.

Nope, 720. And I have no idea what that means. All I know is I'm not paying extra for stuff I don't need :)
I actually don't really like HD that much - if it were free, I'd watch it, but I'm not paying a penny extra for it. So not sure if this falls in the same category or not.

Congrats Andrew! I know about having old TVs - ours was from 81 or so, and we had that until we got one with a remote from a neighbor for $20...lol...still have that $20 TV and since have gotten one with a larger screen (27" compared to 19").
