    Pack/Wrapper Collector

Hey, I just started collecting wrappers a little while ago. I thought it would be a good way to sort of scrap book all of the wax that I have busted. I cut the wrappers down to size and throw them in a toploaders. They look pretty sharp. Anyways, I'm wondering if there are any other wrapper collectors out there, or people who have kept some wrappers. Being that I just started collecting them, all I have are from 2008 issues, and I'm looking for more. Below is a short list of what I have compiled thus far.

Nice collection thus far....I have been collecting wrappers since 2002. I buy recent issued packs as well as packs from the 80s just to keep the wrapper. I figured that one day they could be worth some money like the wrappers from the 50s. Never thought of cutting them down to fit top loaders, sounds like a good idea. I tend to keep mine in original state so in time if I get them encapsuled they might get a better grade.
As I bust packs and boxes I will keep out an wrapper or so if ya want. I only keep out the packs that are in the best condition.

Wow, you must have alot of wrappers then. I never thought about retaining them intact, or the long term potential of their value. I don't think any companies grade just the wrappers right now, do they? I guess I kind of just do it for the nostalgic factor - they look pretty tight in toploaders, stacked in a 2-row box. Yeah, if you have any extras when you break wax that would be sweet, I would trade for them. I've had a hard time getting some of the older ones, just because I don't want to invest the money, time, and space to break a box of junk and have to encorporate in all in the collection. Do you know of any good places to buy just single packs? Dave and Adam's Card World is the best I have seen thus far, but they usually carry just the issues from the last year or two.

I usually just go into a local card shop and pick up a 25 cent pack. It doesn't hurt to sometimes take a chance at a pack of cards. I have pulled some really good cards out of a random pack and from there if I like the cards I start collecting the set. I might start posting them in my bucket. Just to have something new to collect. Also, they have a 4 x 6 or so size top loader for bigger cards so that way you don't have to cut the packs and you can fully flatten the wrapper inside of it.
When I bust more packs, I will save them up and once I have 15 - 20 of them, I'll let you know and send me an SASE and you can have them.
Another way to get more wrappers, just go into the card shop and if people bust in there, the owner might have a trashcan or a bin of them and he might give them away. I have gotten some that way and empty boxes. I have about 20 of those that are stackin up. But that is my preference, not everyone goes for the empty boxes.

Yeah, I thought about the wax box thing, but they just seem too bulky. And I never thought of just getting larger toploaders. Duh! But again, I'm just collecting them for nostalgic reasons - I don't expect them to really gather any value (and they won't when they're cut anyway). I just think it would be kind of cool to see in the longrun how much product I have busted. And I live in Minneapolis, which is not exactly a hot bed for sportscards. We have less than a handful of shops in the metro area, and most just carry new product, and the other shop I refuse to go to because the owner is a ™™™™™™ bag nerd who ignores his customers while he plays online poker and eats junk food. Anyways, yeah any wrappers you could spare would be sweet - perhaps we could put together a trade of some sort in the future.

I used to keep the wrappers of the packs that I pulled gu or autos from and put a sticker to decipher whether it was a gu or au.. But I stopped because they took up too much room and I accumulated way too many
