Pretty sad stuff, some gamers need to realize that it's only a game. The fact that this kid killed his parents over a video is beyond my belief. I know kids that play mature shooter games, but they know better than to take it this far.

wow, that is very shocking, as a video game player, i cant ever imagine taking my anger to that type of extreme, there must be something else wrong besides the video game being the sole reason he did this...

Agreed. People occasionally see stories like this and place the blame entirely on the games, thinking they should be banned entirely. The truth is that the teen obviously had mental coping problems to begin with, and was one of the people who shouldn't have been playing that kind of game - but most of us are able to play them without getting any compulsions to harm people.

I don't think it was just the video game that made him be so violent. It said that he had been planning this for weeks. The kid obviously had issues. I don't know how a person could kill another person.. especially your own mom!! He should be in jail forever.

no i totally agree that it wasnt JUST the video games but they do seem to leave people more "suseptible" to thinking thoughts of killing...but movies and books can do that too...

Sometimes gaming can be very addicting, almost like a drug. If the person becomes sort of dependent on the game, it could cause some instability in that person's emotions. I bet the kid played quite a bit to feel that way. However, insanity? I don't think so. If so, would substance abusers also get to plead insanity for being addicted to a substance? Sorry kid, you messed up and get what you deserve. I hope he gets life.

Wow! This happened extremely close to where I live! It's amazing really that someone would take their gaming so seriously. I love my video games, but at no point would I ever place them above the people I truly care about. Some people just take things waaaaaay too far.
