Desmond Mason out for season with hyperextended knee
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City guard Desmond Mason will miss the rest of the season after hyperextending his right knee during the Thunder's 114-102 overtime victory over Memphis on Wednesday night.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti said Thursday that an MRI exam revealed bruising to Mason's right femur and tibia bones. Team physicians will perform arthroscopic surgery to remove debris caused by the hyperextension.
A fan favorite, the 6-foot-5 Mason appeared in 39 games this season, starting 19 of them and averaging 7.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

That's too bad - he was doing pretty well for the young Thunder. He's getting older, so hopefully this doesn't start a string of injuries for him.

D-Mase is a decent player and a good guy, so this is sad. Thunder could use his veteran stability as well, so they'll lose that intangible.

Happened right in front of me. His knee bent completely backwards. I thought he blew it out. He didnt even try to get up. Just sat there slapping the floor, yelling for help. It was sad. And it sucks, because he hurt it, going for a loose ball on the hustle.
