I'm still wondering how Desmond knew the comatose woman was not really Faraday's mother.

Hey Ash,
I think they are not going back in time on purpose.... They made emphasis on the whole "record player" idea... The island is skipping around time(like a disc) and any time a potential history changing action occurs, the island flashes again.
It appears the only way to stop this time travel is to bring everybody back.... What I am wondering is how some people know what the next period in time is going to be.

Makes sense. I really should record each episode to watch it twice since its easy to get...lost.
I had a feeling Jin survived the freighter blast. Nice cliffhanger at the end of the episode.
Does Aaron have to return to the island as well? He's part of the Oceanic six. Just curious if the writers are going anywhere with Claire's mom past last nights episode.

Any focusing on this wheel in the earth (island)??
I'm probably way off or the writers will make up their minds later but....It was there a long time ago...they found it (somehow) but it was placed there by whom DHARMA, aliens, a government??
I don't know about this season....I've watched all of them before now but if it takes all season to get back...UUUGH
Thank goodness for DVRs I'll probably watch about 6 at a time like usual but, I'll have to stay away from this board till I catch up.

SPOILER
Ash,
I don't think Clair's mother has a major role in this. It was stated in the last episode that Ben was the one who chased after custody of Aaron. Kate and Jack thought that following the lawyer would lead to the "client" but it turned out as a bad cowinkeodink.
The part that should be explained throughout this season is how the island can time travel at different times with the people on it. As you mentioned, Jin is alive. What determines the flashes because both John and Jin were able to interact rather deeply with the people on the island in their present year. My guess is that Jin will meet up with the rest of the people eventually.
As far as the wheel. Its hard to say how it got there and for that matter how everybody quite plays into it..... The wheel that is currently there, it is for time travel. The earth is consistently moving and by pushing that wheel, it moved time and therefore the island. Other then current time, we are only assured of on time period. That was at the end of the last episode when Jin was found by Russo(who was pregnent with Alex I believe). In real time Alex was near 20. We don't know the exact period of John's interactions with the others(lead by the ageless one who's name I forget ATM). We also are never given the age of Charles Whitmore, just the young and old versions.
Just my thoughts on the season so far.

Not expecting a major role, but I'm wondering if Aaron needs to return to the island too. If not, then I'm inclined to believe Kate will give Aaron to Claire's mom.

Thanks John, I couldn't figure that one out for some reason.
Ash, I couldn't give you an answer on that. The whole idea about giving birth on the island has been relatively quiet other then the fact that it does not go like other births.
