1905 - Practical Hints on Base Ball Practice - Jay M. Fisher

I just went through my parents addict and found this orginal booklet dated 1905.

Any chance this is worth anything?

Nice Find. Do you have an antiquarian or used books store near you? I'm not talking about Half Price Books, either as they will low ball you. Any chance you could pm me pics of the cover and title pages? I have some friends who might be able to help you.

That is most definitely worth a pretty penny.

But you're going to have to find specialized collectors to get close to full value for it -- most sports card/memorabilia collectors wouldn't be the market for something like that.

I can’t think of any of those kind of book stores around me. I would have to do some research.

That would be great if you could give me some feedback. I would really appreciate it! Very nice gesture!

I'll send a picture when I get back home from work tonight.

    Thanks again!

Nice find! If you want to sell it, I would recommend contacting a Sports Memorabilia auction house (Heritage, Lelands, etc) and ask them if it's worth consignment. Of course they take a nice cut but their client lists include people who love this type of thing, plus when they agree to sell it they back it with their name...

I have consigned at Lelands before and thought it all went well, it does take a while to get paid though...

My opinion is that any old bookstore will not have the sports-related client base to know much or offer much...

    Good Luck!

It wouldn't hurt to contact the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. See if they have that book, or if any historians there can help you out.

But that auction idea is a great one, too. Even if they get a big cut, it's still more than you were expecting a week ago (zero), right?

I was thinking about this link but forgot to include it...

Sports Collectors Digest is one of the oldest pubs in the business and have this auction database that you can search...comes in handy for memorabilia and vintage stuff. It might not work with such a unique item as yours but its good reference anyways.
