Free Government Cell Phones?
I ran across this the other day and I am not sure if it has been discussed. Here is the website for you to apply to get your free government cell phone:

Does anyone else think it shouldn't be the governments' responsibility to provide cell phones to people?Hidden Content

Unfreakinbelievable...anyone want to defend this? Or do we just all agree that this is ridiculous, unnecessary government waste?

I heard about this, don't they only give you like 12 minutes a month or something as welfare?

You must be a step behind cause I got mine 2 weeks ago
But hey, the wait was shorter than redeeming a card from Upper Deck!

They've already got the coupons for the digital converters, I'm sure the HD TV won't be far behind. Heaven forbid people not be able to watch 24 hour news in crystal clear quality...people might start actually thinking and then Washington would be in trouble.

i couldn't agree more....completely & utterly insane
if they were recycling old cell phones and giving them to the elderly and the only numbers they could dial were emergency personnel, i might not have a problem with it...
but cell phones are not a necessity at all...unreal

We can't put Life Alert out of bussiness. "Help I've falled and I can't get up."
Those commercials are so fantastically cheesy.

C. Everett Coop supports them! "Every senior citizen should have Life Alert." Those are almost as good as Wilford Brimley's diabetes testing supplies commercials. My wife is extremely tired of me saying "You check your blood sugar and you check it often, there's no reason not to."

They have televison commercials for that service here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts.
Cuz you know it's discrimination if I have a cell phone and you don't.
