Vintage card mailday--Babe Ruth!!
I rarely show off my cards, but this one is just so cool, I felt compelled to share. I've been searching for an affordable vintage Babe Ruth card for sometime, and decided on a particular set. After eyeing various examples for several months, I finally pulled the trigger and obtained this little beaut.

This is a 1929 Churchman's tobacco card. It is part of a 25 card set made in England highlighting various sports from around the world. The baseball card happens to highlight a familiar swing. This isn't one of Bambino's most sought-after releases... in fact, a lot of collector's don't even know (or care) about this card, unless they are into vintage. But I thought it had a good combo of looks and affordability. This is a PSA 5 to boot.
Best mailday I've had in a while.

As a huge vintage collector, that is awesome! Please PM me with information about your collection cause I'd love to trade with you sometime! You can check my bucket for my collection too. I love oddball sets like this. I recently picked up a 1932 Sanella Margarine Babe Ruth (as you see in my avatar) that's in GREAT condition. It's from a line of German margarine products and is printed on the back totally in German.
Great addition to your collection! I'd love to hear from you if you ever wanna swap great vintage!

I actually was looking at that 1932 card too, when trying to decide on a Ruth to obtain. Another lesser known, but still very cool card for sure.
I'm far from a "hardcore" vintage guy, though I read about and research it a ton, and I kind of wished I hadn't spent so much on wax when I was growing up and spent the money on vintage cards instead. I'd have a much cooler collection today. I'd definitely have fewer Brien Taylor and Danny Tartabull cards, that's for sure.
I just always wanted a "period" Ruth card, but so much of his stuff is insanely priced. I can only spend so much per month, and Ruth stuff just never fit in that limit. The only complete set I've put together so far is a set of 1951 Red Backs. After a ton of research and "window shopping," this Ruth is my first foray into the world of tobacco cards. Though, I have to admit, it probably won't be my last. These things are cool.
My next vintage project I think will be a set of Topps base Harmon Killebrew cards. I just recently moved into his hometown here in Idaho, and I drive by "Killebrew Field" almost every day... its made me want to start a run of Killer cards. Only seems appropriate.
