Anybody have XM Radio? A question...

I've had XM for a few years now, really love it. But lately, I've noticed the reception has been a lot more staticy...sometimes it's another station over powering mine, but most of the time it's just white noise. And the other stations can't be regular AM/FM stations, because that frequency on the dial is absolutely blank, I check it from time to time.

I got a new receiver relatively recently, my old one crapped out finally. It is a different kind of receiver, would that have something to do with it? Like I said, I love XM and don't know what I would do without ESPN Radio (I live in a rural area that doesn't have it otherwise), but it's getting to the point where there's almost always some degree of interference and it's making me contemplate cancelling my subscription....any remedies out there to save me?

Built in's will always have better (read perfect) reception since you are not using a FM transmitter. That's the problem with using a stand alone Satellite unit, even though you are receiving Satellite feed you still have to transmit it from that receiver to your FM station ... and that is where you are getting the interference.

Best advice I can give is to tune into a different FM station OnePimp and see if that helps, sometimes a station broadcasting on a near by frequency will interfere with your station you need for the XM transmit. You may also want to check your wiring for the Antennae, if it is crinked or smashed in a crevice somewhere that could also pose an issue. Other than that, not much you can do short of getting a receiver that has a built in XM/Sirius unit.

Do you have a factory stereo? If so what kind of car. I might be able to help.

Yeah I realize my setup won't give optimal sound and I'm ok with that. But it has gotten significantly worse in the past couple of months...and it seems like a gradual change, although that might be my imagination. I've tried other frequencies and the one I use has the least audible interference, but that's only for short periods. Maybe I'll try a different frequency each day for a while and see if there's a difference over an extended time.

It's a factory radio/CD player for a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. I installed it manually (upgraded from a tape player), but all the plugs matched from the factory.
