Does BGS Make a difference???

Just looking for some opinions...

Im curious to what other collector's think about a card that grades BGS 9.5 or PSA 10. Not that I'm asking if theres a difference between the two, but do you think having a card that's graded either will dictate you getting a premium when selling it?

I see some people who ask 4-5X book because it has that Grade...

In my opinion BGS gets more than PSA. I am not a huge fan of Graded cards as a whole. I trust my eyes more than sombody elses.

Thanks for the reply but I dont want to get into the debate of BGS vs. PSA. I was using the two "GemMt" grading scales, which usually are comparable in price, as just an axample. Do those gradings require buying/selling at a premium well above BV?

I can understand if a card grades BGS10 Pristine.

The whole grading system stinks... I agree with you, I'm not a huge fan but it's nice to get a card you love slabbed.

bgs cracks down on grading way harder than psa, a psa 10 is the same as a beckett 9 or 9.5

So would a BGS 9.5 graded card dictate buying/selling WAY ABOVE BV? Thats what Im trying to figure out... If a card gets slabbed a BGS 9.5 is it worth more alot more than BV?

Well I'm not to sure about the BV thing but if it's graded by BGS or PSA the price will usually increase. It matters about which card it is though. And a BGS 9.5 is like a PSA 10.

If you are selling the card online, yes the grade and slab matter. Grading is especially important if what you have is vintage, especially high-grade vintage or rookie cards. If you are selling a card in person, often it doesn't, but having a card in the holder helps.

Don't forget, registries do make a difference. Low pop cards in desired sets can command HUGE prices. If you've ever seen two people with deep pockets duke it out over a PSA 10 common for their registry set, you'll know what I'm talking about.

If you don't plan on ever selling the card, then no, it doesn't matter.

BGS isn't as tough as people make it out to be. Its comparable to other services, but its nice because you get more feedback on the grade w/ a BGS slab (corners, surface, etc. all get their own grade). Personally, I prefer PSA, but I have plenty slabbed by other companies as well.

Personally I collect cards I like and want and don't like to pay a premium for the grade. However, there's no denying that cards that grade well, sell for more.

It depends on the card. BGS is best for modern while PSA/SGC are best for Vintage. Personally to me grading is a giant scam but then again I collect pieces of cardboard just like the rest of ya so to each his own I say.
