But it's still not my place to decide whether it will live or not. I've stated my opinions here before, but basically I think it's wrong to prevent another human's life...if that be by murdering a 4 year old or keeping an embryo from being born, you are still taking away the opportunity of life that would naturally occur otherwise. To me, the argument that it's not living yet is a justification for people to do what they want without a guilty conscience.

Yes but this is my view We are in a secular society. This is one of the issues is am very angry about with the Republican side. The use of embryonic stem cells is a religous issue and should not be legislated by our government. We have wasted 8 years of finding possible cures for diseases. This is not moral. Could you answer my hypotheical situation?

It is a moral issue, but it's not a religious issue. People on both sides like to make it one, but religion really has very little to do with it other than religious people are often against it and non-religious people are often for it. Murder/preventing another human from living (however you want to look at it) is a morality issue...religion is brought into the debate as jusitifcation from both sides, but is not the core issue.

And no I won't answer your hypothetical because you're drawing a parallel that isn't appropriate to the situation.

If the argument is about destroying future life....than every time a man masturbates/uses a condom/ has a nocturnal emission he is destroying thousands of potential lives.

The difference is in an embryo life is already underway and, if left to run it's course and barring any unforeseen natural events, it will become a human. With eggs and sperm, nothing has yet formed and if left on their own, nothing will come of them.
