Remember the days when cards didn't have to be an Exquisite auto 1/1 quad or UD Black Octograph to be worth something?

I remember as a kid I had a ton of Jordan Inserts/parallels that were the pride and joy of my life. If I posted them on here the jerks who bust cases of Exquisite and throw away everything that isn't 1/1 would rip on me, so I keep to myself.

    lol

Yah you are really right !

Even before 1996, there are only a few autographs exist and no Game Used.
(And it was nearly impossible to find and see those autographs because ODD was super crazy like 1:15,000)

Because of UD and Topps Commercial(especially UD), most of value of cards at that time were really downed.

But at that time, even really cheap insert was not easy to pull.
(I was a little kid but I can remember that clearly.)

^ Yeah, I can remember freaking when I pulled the Grant Hill Autographics from 1996-97 Hoops. It was valued $320 at the time! I think it's still $120 HI BV - not bad, considering many star autos are so abundant these days that even many of the better players only command about $20 or so.

wow very nice. You pulled Grant Hill autograph? =)

    BTW, that is not not-bad,IMO.

Because Grant Hill was one of Next MJ and he was sensational.

If we condier that, that price is also crazy downed.
(Of course, Grant Hill has not been fully illumimated his ability though..)

Furthermore, Grant Hill Autographs are not crazy short print but those were not many released.

Ah..at least Grant Hill autograph has not been like Keith Van Horn and Ron Mercer Autograph in their rookie season.

Keith Van Horn CM would be 1,200$(?) at peak.
(Funnily at that time, Sheed CM was 300$ and T-MAC CM was 550$ as BV)

But now BV of CM autographics is 40$ and we can get that card around 30-40$ DLVD.

Yes..sadly - and I've shared this story on the board a few times before - I traded the Grant Hill autograph in 1998 for a few low end inserts which booked nowhere near the Hill. :( I was only 13 or 14 at the time and didn't really know much about online trading in those days!

    Yah..your case was not good.

But at least you didn't lose every thing.

I have known a guy(in my country) lose value of his PC as BV around 10,000$ within 2 month. lol
(His PC was 1996-97 Flair Showcase Legacy collection Set, 1997-98 Skybox Autographics CM set and 1997-98, 1998-99, 1999-00 UD Jersey set etc..)
