I just picked up this nice Carey Price O-Pee-Chee Silver Rookie BGS 9.5. The card raw is worth $100.00 that do you think it's worth graded BGS 9.5? LMK

I would say roughly 150 to 200. that just my opinion and I am sure someone else will chime in. That is a great grade so keep it forever.

I've never been a big fan of graded cards. I mean.... for vintage stuff, I see the usefulness of it. It's very hard to get a high grade card from the mid-80s.... and it's gets harder and harder the farther back you go.

That being said.... in any modern set, centering should be flawless.... rough edges are a thing of the past, people no longer leave them sitting in the sun or stuck to gum.... corners get dinged pretty easy, but that's also pretty avoidable. It also confirms authenticity for card you might be otherwise afraid about (i.e. a Gretzky Rookie).

I just don't get why someone would pay double for the card, when getting a card as new as Carey Price's rookie in mint condition should be expected.... not unusual.

What'd you pay? In short, that's the market value and thus its "worth." Of course, what it means to you as a collector may be a whole lot more...I know it would in my case!

You would be surprised how many cards would not get a 9 after coming out of a pack. Anytime it a 9.5 they usually sell for more than Book Price.

I am not saying it worth it. It just what the market in general does as a whole.
