Why the Red Wings Don't Fight
In Detroit, Dropping the Gloves Is Out, Speed and Finesse Are In; Don Cherry's Lament
BY: Reed Albergotti
The defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings have the highest winning percentage in the National Hockey League over five seasons -- but that's not the only thing that sets this team apart.
For a decade now, the Red Wings have had the fewest fights in the league. This season, their 11 fights would hardly constitute a single boxing match.

Well they didn't fight last year and did what Won a Cup. They truly never been a fighting team and even some of the best fights were by guys that were just grinders not necessarily fighters. Probert the best they had and that been long time in the past..
As the other member said they do have some who can fight. Of course they are not the elite fighters of the league. No need to specialize in fighting if you can win without it.
