Stimulus Money - $25 million a mile?
This must be all that "change" I heard about from Obama.
A list of 57 transportation projects totaling $625 million has been adopted by Caltrans as the first in line to receive federal infrastructure money. The projects include:There is a long list of projects, but $25 million a mile to repave????? I guess when you are spending trillions the millions don't really matter? I thought Obama was going through the budget "line by line."
$75 million to repave three miles of rough pavement on Interstate 710 in Los Angeles.

Not that he, or any of his crew, have actually gone through anything line by line, but on this point he can claim he said "budget" NOT all spending. Just one example of his smoke and mirrors presidency !
I keep waiting for him to telll us what the definition of "is" is.

It's too bad that the roads will be ruined again after about a week...

that's a pretty standard cost for the equipment and repaving of highway roads

It depends on the scope of the repavement. On a major interstate (in a city? I think) it is going to be more than a state or town road. There are a lot more factors than simply repaving as a standard

Yeah, I'd like to see industry standards as well as what is actually being done in the project. It is just repaving or does in include bridges, drainage, or any other work that would be more than just taking off pavement and slapping on another layer.
The report doesn't really give you any additional info other than a bulleted list.

Of course, there is the whole notion that capitalism would yield better roads at a cheaper cost, but Obama doesn't believe in that. $4,700/ft is apparently reasonable...

Quite possibly, but this would also probably result in almost every road being a toll road in some way

Cant forget the profit the company has to make in regards to the contracts for the road work....And you know they dont work for no profit
