    Who Is A Goalie?

Just wondering who else on these boards is a goalie? I am interested in hearing when you started playing, what the highest level you played was and it would be cool to see some pics of your gear (masks ect) or pics of you playing.

    I will start:

Started Playing Goal: Ever since I can remember but only became a full time goalie in PeeWee.

Highest Level: I played NCAA Div 1 for Quinnipiac University. I have played for alot of teams though and just play in a few competitive beer leagues now for fun.

    Some Pics:

    Action shot from NCAA:

and pics of my current gear, which I had totally custom made:

Lets see who else is a goalie

    Cheers

Love the look of your equipment. Perhaps we can cut it up for some game used cards. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah it would make some cool pad cards ect.

The graphics are pretty personal to me though, my friend who is a Haida artist drew them for me and then I had Brian's (pad company that made the pads) hand sew them onto the pads. My nickname is Coho Connie and that is a Coho Salmon on the pads as well as a Raven on the blocker and an Eagle on the glove ... the eagle and the raven represent the two Heida clans.

I agree, it's hard to find something more entertaining. Even after the broken bones and the concusions I still keep coming back for more haha.

Inline is fun, I actually used to play that when I was younger, I find it a bit harder/different than ice hockey, probably b/c of the mobility issue on wheels rather than a blade.

Very cool equipment Connie! I wanted to play hockey when I was younger but my mum wouldnt let me so I became a Handball goalie instead (does that count? lol), played for several year and was the only one to use the butterfly style lol. Played for the Canadian Junior AAA team but had to stop because of my knees.

Glad you explained the pattern on the equipment as I was going to query it.

I'm a self taught goalie. I played rep hardball all my life and when i met my ex wife her dad injured himself in a tournament. He asked me to throw on the goalie pads and i fell in love that day with hockey. I play just houseleage and enter tournaments here and there..

I could stop a ball in the dirt and i did ok at stopping some rubber. I have not played in a year or so with the seperation and relocation to a new city. I'm shy and have not entered any leauges around here.

I plan on making my un-retirement next winter perhaps. Need to buy new equipment (I have the old felix potvin style pads) Everything is worked in nicely however its starting to fall apart.

Connie, do you have a close up shot of your mask?

I'm not a goalie (or a player at all, really) but goalie masks always fascinate me. I love how different, and usually personal the designs are.

I'd love to see what you've got on your mask for a design. Love the design on your pads and trapper too. Great stuff.

I actually have quite a few masks. You can kinda see the one I currently wear in the action shot of me. It's a big Bobcat on the top of the mask, it's a very detailed and realistic painting of a Bobcat. I have other masks too with Salmon on them to match my pads but I don't know if I have pics of those handy. In any event I will get some soon. The guy that paints my masks though is amazing, he paints Curtis McElhinney's masks for the Flames, Justin Pogge, Tyson Sexsmith and in the past he did Rick Tabaracci's masks as well as Trevor Kidd's. The guys name is Blake and his company is called Cross-Eyed ... he is awesome at drawing skulls ect.

Thanks for the compliments on my pads as well :)

    Cheers
    Connie
