I was just running through the completed listings and noticed this HUGE steal. It lasted all of about 4 minutes.

Yea that card in an open auction or even with a higher BIN easily sells for close to $1000. These shields, and the dual ones out of The Cup are where a lot of people with deep pockets make made money because every so often you get small time sellers who underestimate the market and think "oh $500 or $1000 is a lot of money for a card, I'll take it", yet a lot of the time they are getting substantially less than they could.

Hopefully the guy who got it is a hard core Vanek collector, otherwise I would not be shocked to see it re-listed in a week or two at around 1200-1500 BIN/BO.

I think that was a good deal for Vanek. I'd price that card more in the $700-800 range. he's established and a star. The rookie shields are the big money.

Thats true, I know the Joe Mullen sold for $750, and to be honest, I do not think I've ever encountered a Joe Mullen collector, whereas Vanek has a pretty decent sized following.

So far Iginla has gone for $1750, Turris and Wheeler each went at $1500, Stamkos sold for a between 1500-1800, and I don't remember exactly what the others where but over the past year or so the prices people have been paying for the Ultimate shields has really gone up. The Cup Duals seem to be dropping a bit, but that is expected as some players collectors do not like the cards with more than one guy on them.

wow, that is a crazy steal...I just hope that when the thornton pops up I have the money to buy it.
