FOR SURE go with Plante/Vezina, for me there would be no other choice (that is, if I had to choose from your list, if it was up to me, I'd do Kane/Toews or Sid/Ovy or Sid/Gretzky)!

I'm seeing a LOT of Plante/Vezina combos being suggested, and, normally, i would as well, but that's because I collect... well, Plante and Vezina.

    WAIT!!!

A 'Made to Order' card is special. Its your own little 1/1. Not only is it a 1/1, but its the 1/1 that you get to choose, that wasn't designed by some company somewhere out there with a chance of making a similar 1/1 card in another set. Before you pull the trigger on who you want on the card, you need to make a serious, serious choice.

All of us, at some point will get rid of our cards, since they can't be taken to the grave. The question is, are these cards going to be sold in 3 years down the road, or are you going to pass these onto your children or relatives. And that brings us to the choice.

Is this card something you're going to trade away in the end? Or is this card going to be something that you keep for yourself, as a PC item through thick and thin, forever.

If this card will eventually be flipped, get the Plante/Vezina. So many people want the combo as two of the top goalies for the Habs in the history of the NHL who pioneered the game as the goalie and who pioneered the mask as the goalie. It'll be easy to re-sell.

If the card will stay with you forever, go with your gut. I saw in your first post that you were leaning toward the 'Lindbergh/Vezina' combo because of the tragedy involved in the two. Or the Tretiak / Vezina because those two goalies are just so deserving of being on a card together.

Also, think of the uniqueness of the card. there are already 15 different cards featuring Vezina and Plante. Six of which feature just the two of them together. Do you know how many Vezina/Tretiak cards exist or Vezina/Lindbergh exist? None.

If you really want some suggestions other than three that you picked, here's a few more (if I ever get a made to order, I'd like the players featured on the card to have a link, so here are some that I wouldn't mind)
Benedict / Vezina - Benedict and Vezina were in the same Hockey era. In the first season of the NHL (1917), they shared the league record for most shut outs in a single season, both with one a piece. From 1917 to 1925, the league GAA leaders were either Vezina (3 times) or Benedict (5 times). Clint Benedict was also the first NHL goalie to wear a mask (although, not to popularize it like Plante did). No Benedict/Vezina card currently exists

Sawchuk / Vezina - both died during their playing career, albeit Sawchuck died after the prime or his career. six cards Exist that feature both sawchuk and Vezina, three of which only feature sawchuk and vezina.

Hainsworth / Vezina - Vezina died and Hainsworth took over, then won the first Vezina trophy, both from the Montreal Canadiens. Two cards feature hainsworth and vezina. No one cards features hainsworth and vezina exclusively.

Any Vezina trophy winner / Vezina - The connection is obvious and you can pick plante, roy, broda, etc. etc. Of course, most cards from this already exist - see 00-01 BAP Vezina GU pieces and the recent Superlative Vezina trophy winner cards.

Whatever you choose, please let us know and if you're kind enough, give us a scan!

Burn it and start collecting Habs. j/k

In all seriousness, if you really want to get into your collection, read a book on the Toronto Team's history. As you do, you'll see events that just call out to you and it'll make your collecting all the more personal.

Feel free to pm me if you really want some advice. I read some stuff as how the Leafs relate to the NHL, but my background knowledge is mostly about goalies and the like.

    Cheers,
    reoddai
