Prices of Derrick Rose cards
Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting my dad to invest in a derrick rose sp authentic or exquisite auto patch rc for me. I'm looking at chris paul's exquisite auto patch which sold for 3.7 thousand
http://cgi.ebay.com/05-06-CHRIS-PAUL...3%3A2|294%3A50
although it was a logo patch I'm wondering if values of all chris paul cards went up because I also saw an spx of him that only sold for 170
http://cgi.ebay.com/05-SPX-CHRIS-PAU...3%3A1|294%3A50
But, this lebron james spx sold for this much
http://cgi.ebay.com/2003-04-SPx-LEBR...3%3A1|294%3A50
I'm wondering if the price of that card was that expensive his rookie year, or if the card was high in value when he won rookie of the year, then went down a little bit, then shot up again?
and derrick rose's spx auto is already selling for about 180 while the sp authentic patch is selling like 200+ So I'm wondering, is the price of Derrick rose cards only high right now because of derrick rose rookie of the year fever? or is this the lowest it will be and will grow in value in the next few years. If I can convince my dad that this is a good investment I think I can get him to get it for me :D (I'm gonna try to wait until 08-09 exquisite comes out and someone pulls that d rose auto patch) Any thoughts?
thx!

I think it's rookie year fever. In my opinion he doesn't play in a really flashy style or anything like that, and the people that do are the ones that tend to increase in value over time.

Well I actually think that derrick rose plays very flashy because of his athleticism. But who do you think would be better to invest in, Westbrook or durant or even mayo? Any suggestions?
Thx for opinion btw

kevin durant is the real deal and he has a good supporting cast around him (westbrook, green, etc) - i don't think you can go wrong with him - i would get autos of him in the summer when nobody cares - i wouldn't be surprised if the thunder make the playoffs next year and durant is MVP in the next 2 0r 3 years
i think Rose is the real deal too - he makes people look silly when he dribbles around them, he will be a superstar but again i would wait until middle of the summer when nobody cares about basketball cards like a few weeks after the finals are over
sp authentic and exquisite rookie patches are the way to go - it's the last year they are making them spx are sticker autos and will come down in price

Derrick Rose is definately a good investment... I mean he's being compared to MJ... that's big news... esp if you're from the Chi
& another note... Go Bulls!!

Well kevin durant is definately pro but I think westbrook has more sell value potential and more skill potential in general because he is more flashy, athletic, and is a guard position (usually the ones people like and the ones who carry the team). I think westbrook will be leading thunder eventually, as this is just his rookie year that hes already doing so well in.
Also, I know I originally wanted rose, but I kind of am starting to agree with other people. I live in chicago so I watched him a lot and he is just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO unclutch. A lot of people blame his not being clutch on the fact that it's his rookie year. However, I think this year, he has had so much weight on his shoulder that he should be used to all of the pressure by now if he was to grow into a clutch player. I've seen plays where he missed layups in the last few minutes, even just in the playoffs with the celtics. I think derrick rose is good in the first 3.8 quarters of the nba but then in the last .2.... hes kinda done...
Anymore thoughts? I never knew how hard it was for cards to grow in value, I always just assumed that as a player got better, the cards got better, and almost 99% of the time players get better after their rookie season.
great discussion btw, I like actually talking about the players than just their cards once in a while lol.
thx!

i like this discussion too... i think derrick rose will be more clutch - i don't think it was "his" team this year - gordon and thomas would pass to other people before rose once derrick realizes it's his team and leads like he started doing in the playoffs the bulls will be amazing and he will be a huge reason why. they didn't go to him late in the games, like they were bringing him along slowly. remember it is his rookie year - he looked a lot better than cp3 and deron in their rookie years and look where they are at - players really come into their own in their 3rd and 4th years - look how well deron, cp3, and granger did this year. kobe was nothing special in his rookie year.
i think westbrook will be a monster but durant was top 5 in the league in scoring - it's his team and his game is crazy. i look forward to watching westbrook and durant be one of the scariest tandems for years to come. i do agree that westbrook has a lot of upside because his cards aren't as expensive as durants because durants always were expensive.
while we're at it - brandon rush was starting by the end of the season and he was scary good - i personally watched him score 27 pts against the cavs - his cards are really good values right now - i just got one of the exquisite xrcs that have both westbrook and rush on it so i'm covered:)
mayo plays for the grrizzlies and that franchise just reminds me of the clippers for some reason - i don't get a good feeling about them or their future.
