    Dracula

This is a pretty cool idea. Someone is posting the entire Dracula book on their site. Since it's written in journal form, each entry is being posted on the day it occurred in the actual book.

I'd think there would be some copyright stuff.

He's dead, so it's public domain. Project Gutenberg has it all.

Who's dead? The author? That wouldn't matter, if this is a published book, the publisher owns rights as well. This blog is piracy plain and simple. I doubt the dude will get caught, but no one should ever repost literature that is owned by someone else.

If he is not making any profit out of it, I don't see any issues with it. Also, this happens all the time. I think you only get in trouble if you are trying to sell it or make money out of it

It doesn't matter is he's not selling it. It's work owned and published by a second party and he is offering it for free. Offering it for free cuts into sales and companies usually don't like that. That said, I'm sure he's not getting tons of hits so it won't be noticed by anyone.

Also, he may not be receiving any monetary proceeds from the posts, but he is receiving blog hits.

Whoa, the blogger is taking it from Project Gutenberg, so it's completely legit. No copyright violations at all.

Also, for the record, the book was published before 1923, so is public domain.

It's pretty cool. They've got tons of stuff, mostly older classics. Helps if you need some reading during work :)

My logic was off earlier - I think the rule is "if the author is alive, the copyright usually stands". Mine isn't true.
